Hello all, figured I would post my stats here and see what schools people recommend, and if I have any weaknesses.

  1. Undergrad cGPA/sGPA: 3.96/3.98, t30 college in boston
  2. MCAT: 521 (132/126/131/132)
  3. California resident
  4. White/Thai Male. Currently a Senior planning to take only one gap year
  5. Clinical experience:
    • 300hrs clinical volunteering in the ED (mass general hospital (MGH))
  6. Research:
    • 2000 hours at a hospital lab (Molecular biology focused, at harvard medical school + MGH)
      • 1 poster, possibly more
      • Potential pub by next May
      • LOR from PI
  7. Shadowing experience
    • 24 hours shadowing endocrinology, with LOR from one doctor
    • 16 hours shadowing primary care
  8. Non-clinical volunteering
    • 150 hours volunteering at a thai church back at home; mentoring children and participating in church service
    • 50 hours with Breakthrough T1D during their annual walks or other volunteer events
    • 120 hours as a Peer Mentor: taught a freshman college introduction class, and met weekly with other peer mentors
  9. Other extracurriculars
    • 180 hours Biology Peer Mentor: taught a laboratory section with a grad student, and attended a teaching course weekly
    • 120 hours advanced laboratory course with focus on independent research - may not exactly count as an extracurricular.
I would love to become an endocrinologist. Any recommendations for improvement, or for potential schools, would be very appreciated. Thank you.
(Special thank you to Buffalo Hunter - I copied his format.)

You should accumulate 150+ hours of non clinical volunteering such as food bank, homeless shelter, etc.
I suggest these schools with your stats:
The UCs (except Riverside unless you are from that region)
USC Keck
Stanford
Kaiser
Washington University (in St. Louis-almost a guaranteed interview with your stats)
Northwestern
Vanderbilt
U Michigan
Case Western
Cincinnati
Ohio State
Mayo
USF Morsani
Emory
Duke
U Virginia
Johns Hopkins
U Penn
Pittsburgh
Jefferson
Hofstra
Einstein (free tuition)
Mount Sinai
NYU (free tuition)
Columbia
Cornell
Rochester
Yale
Harvard
Dartmouth
Brown
Tufts
Boston University
UMass

You're a legend on this forum, Faha. Thanks so much for the recommendations.

Weaknesses:
Your activities seem to be done at different places. You did your clinical experience in Boston but no community service there (I'm surprised)? I presume your faith home is in California, but no similar house of worship in Massachusetts?

This makes me think you can't do both clinical experience and community service. That seems weird... balancing multiple priorities is very important, as is showing consistent ability during your undergraduate years. Commitment to service is important, and I hope you can show you can excel at both in your growth year.

Why do you want to be an endocrinologist? Why not research (also)?
