im confused on what you mean that you might drop to a 502 if you already got a 509...

regardless, I would shoot your shot at all TMDSAS schools. I think you have a good chance at landing an MD program in state. The way you write about your experiences as a URM and activities that show commitment to URM populations will matter a lot. I think others can give a more comprehensive school list or something, but I do think you stand a very good chance instate if your writing is good lol

Apply to all your Texas MD and DO schools and you should receive several interviews. Are there any other areas of the country you would be interested in relocating to ?

I'm interested anywhere, any state I would go to.

thank-you, are there any DO schools you'd advice me to apply to? I'm scared with the removal of AA, I may not stand a chance at any MD school, I really want MD just because of the speciality I'm after, but I will take DO if no choice. I know my MCAT score isn't the best either.

You have TCOM, Sam Houston State and UIWSOM in Texas and you are competitive for all those.

Are you connected with any mentoring organization that support aspiring Black physicians? Have you applied to scholarship or mentorship opportunities we have posted in our Underrepresented subforum? Have you attended SNMA virtual events?

I have connected with the MAPS group in my school, but as of one catering to black physicians, I have not.

I think I just posted their announcements for SNMA/MAPS scholarships. It's a small amount, but I wanted to make sure you saw them.
thank-you. Do you honestly think I still have a shot at MD with my below average stats. I was reading the black enrollment trend this year and it had me worried, it had an incredible drop, and I am just worried that with my 124 cars, I'm screened out and a mcat score below 510 would just make my application dead on arrival. I am really planning on improving my hours which I've done so far such as non clinical but will definitely get it above 150+ by the time application comes. I will check out the SNMA/MAPS scholarships.

Thank-you so much for the school suggestions. I have now narrowed my list to 35 schools total! Lets see how this application cycle goes, hopefully awesome. Now I am fixing up my writing, training in my scribing job, preparing for interview questions, and now have passed the 150+ non clinical volunteer mark. By May I believe I can hit 200 hours. Also, with my school list, I will start prewriting secondaries. Everything is going so amazing and I want to thank everyone in SDN for the amazing advice and especially you FAHA. I've been lost throughout this whole process but I am feeling a lot better now.

This is the final list that I've come up with, shortening it down from 35 to 33. Does this list seem like I have a decent shot at getting into Medical school? This list can be modified always.
