Please follow the template format.

Details matter. What have you done with 2000 clinical hours? What have you done with 300 non-clinical hours? Do you work to support your education? Where in Texas did you grow up?

2000 split between medical assistant at ophthalmology clinic and PCT at a hospital, 300 non-clinical volunteering at youth sports camps, grew up in a more rural area 30 miles out of one of the major cities (Austin, Dallas, Houston). I have worked since graduating in both clinical and non-clinical settings (about 1000 hours non-clinical).

Shadow for a few specialities for a total of 50 hours and get 200 hours of non-clinical volunteering at a food bank, soup kitchen, homeless shelter etc.

OOS schools know they have a hard time competing for TX residents due to the IS tuition. You could try 5-10 of the most competitive schools that you like. They offer their name brand and sometimes can provide large scholarships (free tuition at NYU):

WUSTL
Vanderbilt
Duke
NYU
Penn
Harvard
UVA
Mayo
Northwestern
Emory

Okay, what do you think of my chances in-state as a texas resident? Also, does the 300 non-clinical volunteer at a sports camp not suffice? Thanks

Depends on the demographics of the sports camp, but non-clinical volunteering should be aimed at helping those less fortunate. That usually involves you getting out of your comfort zone.

Your chances for TX schools are good and you should receive multiple interviews.
