Misc Info/Things not stated elsewhere/Red Flags: As I stated at the top, my GPA is not indicative of my academic performance since committing to dentistry. There were many negative externalities that factored into my GPA, but since I began taking pre-requisite courses I have maintained an up trending GPA. Also, my school list is based on institutions that I have been in contact with prior to submitting my application. I did not want to add more schools than necessary until I took my DAT. I am also aiming to stay on the east coast, preferably in the south.
School list:
VCU
MUSC
Maryland
Thinking of applying to:
UNC
Kentucky
Florida
Pittsburgh
just realize UNC and UF are extremely competitive for OOS
and 3-7 publics 0 privates?

I was not taking into account public vs private schools. Not trying to sound rude because I am actually curious and do not know anything about it, why does that matter?

please research applicant/acceptance rates for OOS private vs OOS public dental schools and look at their GPA/DAT stats
while you have an excellent application except for the oGPA, you may want to broaden your school list if you want to avoid not applying again next year
but you must also weigh the costs of the private schools vs the OOS publics, this may affect your decision on which schools to apply to...

Bump. For anyone who is reading, is there a certain aspect of my application that I should aim to improve on prior to the academic update periods?

Academic update periods are only for you to update your grades/GPAs. ECs may be added at any time.

You need to add more schools. 4 is far too few, especially when one of those (UNC) accepts about 1-2 OOS every year, who have high stats (25+). MUSC is also wildly expensive for OOS. I'd get your school list to about 10 with a healthy mix of private and public schools whose averages are close to your stats and who accept a decent amount of OOS students. Private schools don't care about residency, but public schools tend to prefer their IS applicants and thus are pickier with their OOS ones and that's why you need to pick OOS public schools that you'd be reasonably competitive at.
