Date of submission: applying this coming cycle
Overall GPA: 3.75
Science GPA: 3.58
DAT score (include AA and all sections):
  • Bio: 410
  • Orgo: 420
  • GenChem: 440
  • QR: 410
  • RC: 440
  • PAT: 420
  • AA: 420
State of Residence: Massachusetts

Undergrad Attended: Providence College (Rhode Island)
Major: Biology
Minority? No
Reapplicant? No
Nontrad? No

Shadowing Experience: 130 at 3 different general dentists
Volunteering Experience: 120 hours at food banks, churches and after-school programs (vast majority of time is from after school programs)
Employment: 400 hours as a general dentist’s assistant
Research: 2 years in cell bio research, 2 presentations
Other Extracurriculars: VP/treasurer of Pre-dental society, VP of political club, competitive chess player,
Have you volunteered/shadowed/attended events at any dental schools? Limited networking with BostonU
Relevant Honors or Awards: none
LOR type and strength: Committee Letter, 2 sci, 1 humanities, 1 general dentist, these are all strong letters. (at my undergrad they compile all LoRs into a packet and put a committee letter on top)
Misc Info/Things not stated elsewhere/Red Flags: GPA (and sciGPA) have gone up every semester. I think both my shadow/volunteer hours are pretty low as well as my DAT scores. I got a C+ in GenChem1. Not sure if being involved in a political club is a negative or not.
School list:
UNE, Pitt, Temple, West Virginia, Tufts, BostonU, Novasoutheastern, WesternU, Marquette, Creighton, Roseman, Touro, Midwestern, Detroit Mercy, LECOM FL

why roseman?
why western?

What feedback have you gotten from your prehealth advisors, especially since you have a committee letter (coming)? I think your DAT scores are good.

You have posted here before and have gotten advice over the past year (so good for you!). I also am unsure why you have the schools outside the immediate Northeast region listed, but metrics-wise I guess you can try Western if you feel comfortable moving out to Pomona. I don't think Weste Virginia is a good fit unless you have something to say about Appalachian rural health. Creighton would be good if you have experience in rural health in the midwest or a different mission fit.

Being involved in political activism shouldn't be a big deal, but be prepared to talk about what you did for advocacy. Dentistry brings in people across the political spectrum, so your ability to work with others with diametrically opposite political perspectives should be clearly demonstrated.
