I understand that score and gpa are not competitive for many MD schools, however may be sufficient enough to apply for DO schools across the country. Looking for recommendations and suggestions on how to improve application stats and list of potential MD/DO schools and programs to submit early application once admissions open in May-June. I'm looking for some insight on how my chances are currently, CA schools are preferential but with stats listed above going out of state is not an issue for myself. Any input is much appreciated!

Welcome to the forums.

Clearly the 501 is a challenge. You have a shot at many DO schools but a very limited number of MD's. Your sGPA, BCPM, and GPA yearly trends would be useful.

Tell me why you feel it is your purpose to be a physician. Would you consider going for a postbac or SMP? Where did you grow up in California?

I would look at the newer DO schools, you have a shot at interviews with a well crafted app. Take my list with a grain of salt as I’m not Faha but I think you can try these DO schools. Applying broadly will help greatly.

I had a increasing GPA yearly trend throughout my four years as an undergrad, and started performing better in classes once I switched my major from a psych to biotechnology which focused more in STEM courses.
A close family member was diagnosed with cancer, she was always known in the family as having a strong demeanor, with a loving and caring nature. Through chemo and medication, her character never changed. Her unchanging nature was largely due to her medical team, which showed me the impact physicians/healthcare workers have. They not only treat sicknesses but also support patients through their struggling moments. So one of the reasons I want to be a physician is to be able to provide care and help to patients in order to help them to "return" to their lives prior to their sickness.
I would like to apply for the next cycle, so a postbacc or SMP may be off the table as of now.
I grew up in the Bay Area of California
