If you have the time to study for a retake of the MCAT in the spring of 2023 it may be worth it. Do not retake unless your practice scores are consistently 512 or higher. The GPA-MCAT grid shows you have a ~80% chance for a MD acceptance and you are competitive for all DO schools.Thank you for the MD list help. Would you advise not retaking the MCAT? Or do you think it would be worth trying again? I was worried that since it was unbalanced it would not be competitive enough for MD, VCU/EVMS specifically. I am up for giving it another try with a better study plan but wasn't sure how big of a risk relative to the impact on my app it would have. I will be working Full-Time in the spring so would cut into my ability to write prewrite primary/secondary application(s).
For SUNY: Originally from the area. Several family members were treated/passed away there. Also, shadowed in part of their hospital system. I thought that justified a strong connection but let me know if I am mistaken.
I was looking at the grid from several years before this one. I am not certain why the odds have gone down so much.Thank you for your advice. Which GPA-MCAT grid shows this? I looked at the A-23 GPA-MCAT grid and it only shows a 55% chance of MD acceptance.
A higher MCAT would help, especially if you can improve your score to 512+.Does this change your opinion on a retake? MSAR data puts my score somewhere between the 10-25% for most of the schools on this list. Below the 10% at Creighton, Jefferson, and NOVA.
