33y female APRN, practicing OBGYN as a laborist/first assist for the last 2 years. Previously an RN, and in another lifetime, a high school agriculture teacher. Pursued nursing>APRN and am unsatisfied by deficits in what I know and am able to do, and frankly, I want to be a physician. I should have pursued it to begin with but as an already non-traditional person entering nursing in 2019, it felt like the ‘smarter’ move. Lol @ my student loans looking at me.

Stats/info:

Based on my entire college journey
cGPA 3.64
AMCAS science 3.86
AACOMAS science 3.85
MCAT- taking soon!

Clinical hours
~1900 hours employed as CNA
~5600 hours employed as an RN
~3300 hours employed as a CNM

Volunteering hours
Around 50 from time as a Junior League member 2019-present
Around 20 with the American Legion

Research
Zero.

Will have very strong physician LORs and one strong science one but a second science will have to be from a random new professor since all my pre reqs are old and I only stayed in touch with one from 2010.

Basically I am very tied to my location. I am considering applying to

ETSU QCOM
Belmont
UTCHS
LMU-DCOM

Given this context, what’s the MCAT score you’d feel comfortable with applying in an application cycle?

Welcome to the forums?

What is your state of residence? How long were you a teacher and a nurse? What advice have you received regarding your application profile or suggested MCAT target?

Thanks! Brand new here!

I’m in Tennessee! I taught high school for 4.5 years, then became a CNA while I took prereqs. Was a CNA for about a year and a half. Nurse at the bedside for 3 years. Then Aprn CNM for 2 years so far.

I am aware of the admission/matriculated averages for my top schools (ETSU, LMU because of location) but am curious if any others have more specific advice.
