Undergraduate: Small state school in PA (Biology Major)
-cGPA: 3.27
-sGPA: 3.37
Graduate Program 1: VCU CERT (dropped out after first semester due to illness)
-10 credits worth of C's 🙁
-GPA: 2.0 (was not ready physically to take graduate level classes, have a chronic health condition that was exacerbated during this time period. Eventually left the program)
Graduate Program 2: Masters of Biomedical Science at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (SMP: "mimic" of first year medical school curriculum)
-GPA: 3.9 (30 credits)
MCAT:
-23: June 2013 (expired)
-503: (128/125/125/125) July 2015
-512: (128/129/129/126) March 2017 (87th percentile)
Extracurriculars:
-currently working on becoming a Kaplan MCAT instructor
-currently working on my EMT certification
- 1 year of working on a public health project (~100 hours)
- 1 month of overseas work as medical assistant in Pakistan with deaf and blind orphans (~150 hours)
- Volunteer Groundskeeper at historical park (~110 hours)
- Entrepreneurial Endeavor: Had my own start up for a little over a year, have my own LLC, and employee's (~300 hours)
- Organic Chemistry I/II tutor for 2 semesters during undergrad
- Cardiology research on Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (~300 hours no publication)
- Shadowing (~ 100 hours)
Questions:
1.) Does anyone know how adcoms will look at my 3.9 SMP vs. my 2.0 at VCU for that lackluster semester?
2.) How does an expired low MCAT score look to adcoms if followed by a higher new MCAT?
3.) I'm going to list the schools I'm applying to: any advice on adding/removing is welcome.
- Mainly trying to go MD, but open to DO as back up.
