Hi this is a repost from a few days ago. I got the MSAR to make a MD school list. I have my DO list set already. Just need help editing my MD list. Any advice at all is always appreciated 🙂

**Year in school*: Graduated 2016, B.A. Psych from CSULB

**Country/state of residence**: California

**Ethnicity**: Filipino

**Cumulative GPA**: 3.62

**Science GPA**: 3.66

**MCAT Scores**: 506 (128/127/125/126)

**Research**: Worked in a psychology behavioral lab (1.5 years, 150 hours) 1 pub on the way (probably 3rd or 4th author or lower)

**Volunteering (clinical)**: rotating the hospital as a Cope Health Scholar (450 hours, 3 years), intern at a behavioral clinic (100 hours, 4 months)

**Physician shadowing**: 10 hours (behavioral pediatrician)

**Non-clinical volunteering**: Cart-driver in a hospital compound (250 hours, 2.5 years)

**Extracurricular activities**: President of a fraternity (300 hours, 1 year), Vice-President of a Greek Council (100 hours, 1 year), Recruitment and Training Coordinator (235 hours, 2 years)

**Employment history**: Working in homecare for developmentally disabled individuals (600 hours, 1 year)

With all the research experience you have, did you even look at any of the school websites and their mission statements? Hint: define HBC and look at MSAR's Acceptance information pages, particularly the IS/OOS rations for, say, U NM.

I was looking more about where my numbers fit in best. I was looking at the IS/OOS ratio and demographics as well. I just thought I'd cast a pretty wide net and see where I could go from there.
 
Casting a wide net is important, but there's also no need to donate to random schools. Definitely go with Goro's list; you had many schools with heavy in-state bias on your original list, and you were missing many OOS privates as well.
 
I think FSU accepted like 1 or 2 OOS students last year, and since you just about match their averages, I think you shouldn't bother applying.
