I graduated with a 3.3 cGPA with a degree in biology, my first year of college brought down the average, and I finished the last 2.5 years very strong.
DAT - 20AA, 19TS, 20PAT (currently studying for retake)
My letters of recommendation are 2 strong science letters from an immunology and biochemistry professor, and 1 from a dentist. I worked as a dental assistant throughout undergraduate, taught a chemistry lab, and took part in volunteer work. I also worked many side jobs in undergrad coming from a place with not a lot of money.
I am currently working at a hospital as a dental assistant with 8 residents and doing research with the local medical school on craniofacial projects.
I applied to 22 schools in June and have had zero interviews thus far. So far I have been denied by 5 schools.
Does anyone have any input as to the the odds for this years cycle? My plans are to retake the DAT in a few months to sharpen up that aspect of my resume and potentially do a masters program with a linkage to my number 1 dental school, but I’m not sure if it’s worth the extra debt. Any advice?
