Misc Info/Things not stated elsewhere/Red Flags:

My GPA has an upward trend, and I plan to emphasize the improvement and what I learned from earlier challenges. I did not shadow in America, but I did shadow abroad, which gave me valuable perspective on different healthcare systems and cultural approaches to care. I also founded a club designed to sharpen manual dexterity by making goods for the homeless, combining skill-building with community service. The main reason I want to become a dentist comes from being bullied back home, where my dentist was the first person to treat me with dignity and not dehumanize me. I want to offer that same kind of presence to the underserved, which is essentially the theme of my personal statement. My number one choice is Howard.

School list:

Howard

Tufts

Meharry

Touro

Detroit Mercy

Loma Linda

NYU

Temple

My last year’s GPA was a 3.8. I came up with this list based off private schools that accept international students.

Welcome to the forums. Your metrics are too low for the Ivies like UPenn. Have you networked with other schools on your list? Loma Linda usually wants a letter from a spiritual leader which doesn't exactly align with your reasons to become a dentist here in the US.

I think that not shadowing a dentist or working in the US in a dental clinic is going to hold you back. Your PAT result also does not help you with your involvement with a manual dexterity organization.

What about schools like Howard or Meharry? Do I still have a chance for those schools?

Have you volunteered/shadowed/attended events at any dental schools? networking, volunteering in a D-school clinic, shadow faculty, etc.

so which is it?
"unfortunately not"
or "yes for nova"?
Sorry I’m not understanding. I meant unfortunately did not undergo any clinical shadowing here in the US nor did I participate in any dental school events except that I have a few connections at Nova Dental.

Let's look at the ADEA Dental School Explorer. Do you have access?

Meharry's last entering class into the database: 1 international matriculant (Canada) out of 96 applicants.
Howard had 5 out of 80 applicants (Ethiopia, Haiti, Jamaica, The Bahamas, Virgin Islands (British)).
NovaSE had 7 out of 259 (Canada, South Korea).

I know Howard isn’t all about stats but if you were an admissions officer at Howard how would you view my app overall?

I would want to know how informed you are about oral health needs in the United States with historically underserved and marginalized communities, given that you have very little experience. That would be a yellow flag. But I don't have the rest of your application to make a further judgment to lift that flag. I don't see evidence of your being an advocate or a "presence" for underserved communities from the activities you have listed.

I did do virtual shadowing for 100 hours but I couldn’t write that on my application since I had more important extracurriculars to list.
