So we are already onto block 3 and i've been doing decent in my classes, averaging about an 80% on our final exams and higher on the other ones, but those are less important.

I just want some tips on how I can break above that 80% mark and get into the 85-90 range.

Last block I added in Anki, and it didn't help or hurt me, it just took a bit to make the cards. I think this block im going to toss anki, since it wouldn't be a loss and I can spend that time studying other stuff.

I do find I am a horrible test taker, test anxiety up the arse. Always second guessing myself and overthinking which caused me to change the right answer to the wrong one.

Does anyone have any study or test taking tips that may be of use? Id appreciate it 🙂

Do you review any of your exams? I found that my main problems were in the realm of test taking skills. As soon as you can, go and review your exam and mark how many you got wrong because of lack of knowledge and how many you got wrong because of poor test taking skills (either didn't read the question properly, changed answers when you shouldn't have, etc). If you find you're missing a bunch because of the latter, then really pay attention to your thought process during the exam. It might take a couple of exams to see a difference but the earlier you practice these skills the more consistently you'll perform in the future. I'm sure your school has a learning specialist that can help you further with this.

I used this strategy and learned that I needed to stop changing answers so much during exams. I scored 10% higher on my next exam.

Go to your school's counseling center for help with the test taking anxiety.

Stopping the seconding guessing/overthinking is a self-discipline issue. You have to simply trust your gut and stick with your first answer, because that's generally the right one.

^This. I can't tell you how many times I marked a question and changed it to a wrong answer when I went back to it after I finished all the other questions. I stopped doing that and I've been scoring higher.

Hey man,
Do you use your strengths and opportunities report? While I have done pretty well from the start, I have noticed that I really use those to triage the content that I need to focus on the most. I also think that I have gotten a pretty good idea of what type of questions we will get from Pharm, Micro, etc. I am one of your classmates so shoot me a PM if you want to talk more.

Typically, I try to get through lectures about 3x before exams. I speed lectures to 2.0 the speed and skip class.

For exams, I have zero anxiety. It helps A LOT. When I walk into an exam, it is what it is, I did what I did, so I just pretend I’m going to slay it. Bump that confidence up and slay it.

I hope this helps. Be positive, mindful, and confident, and TRUST YOURSELF.

Easier said than done. This is the most difficult barrier to break through, IMO.
