I have a long story, but I'll keep it concise. I finished college with a 3.3 overall GPA and 3.0 BCPM GPA. I didn't study well for my MCAT and ended up with a low score (rather not say). At the time I just wanted to move on. I found podiatry.
Podiatry is a great career for the right person. Two and half years of pod school have taught me that I am not that person. I realize now, after some years of growing up, that I want to be a full physician, all due respect to my pod friends. I love tackling systemic disease and honestly, would choose to become an internist. The recent podiatry residency shortage, with the haphazard dismissal of pod students to artificially fix the shortage, combined with a less than warm medical school administration has led me to a final decision, I want to quit podiatry.
What do I need to do in order to become a competitive candidate for MD and DO programs? I have excellent research experience with several basic science and clinical publications. I want to retake my MCAT and this time try my best. I also have 2+ years of podiatry classes (some of which were taken with MD students) earning A's and B's.
With a high enough MCAT, do I stand a chance?
