Can you apply DO and MD at the same time?

Hi guys! I want to apply to DO and MD programs but if I apply to the same schools will this put me at a disadvantage? Similar to how applying PA and MD to the same schools does.

Even for universities which have both MD and DO programs, you are still allowed to apply to AMCAS and AACOMAS (or TMDSAS if applicable). We have not seen any students put at a disadvantage to apply for both.

Applying to CASPA and AMCAS also does not put you at a disadvantage... although for some schools, medical school faculty can serve both admissions committees and may be put off by this. However, there are many more PA programs that stand alone and do not have MD faculty on their admissions committees.

I'd wager that the DO and MD admissions committees are separate entities within the same university. Apply to both without hesitation.

AACOMAS and AMCAS do NOT communicate with each other.

Also, we DO Adcom members take it for granted that our candidates are applying MD and DO. We don't take it personally.
