"That was Dr. Susan Moore, family physician, University of Michigan Medical School graduate, Black woman. She described how the White doctor treating her “made me feel like I was a drug addict,” refusing to prescribe her additional narcotics when she complained of pain — even though he knew she was a fellow physician."

Man your titles are always so click-baity, I keep looking at the articles to see where actual pain doctors are involved and they’re never mentioned.

The article implies that the treating physician is racist, without offering any supporting evidence.

It also implies that he failed to escalate the opioids, specifically because he is racist.

Look at the title.

No facts of her care are offered. Nor should they be unless her family and the hospital agree to release them.

That’s right. And the conclusions are presented as if they’re clear and obvious to everyone.

With Trump out of the way, absurd media narratives like this will flourish and may well instruct policy.

Biden's entire platform is that he is politically correct.

Inpatient pain management can be touch and go when it’s not done by a pain team. I’ll have patients on chronic MED 40-50mg who get written for tramadol because no one looks at their home med list. Or no basic physical exam for work up of acute pain. But I do find it surprising that a physician didn’t have more access to pain medication.

"Similar to rates of substance abuse for the general population, studies show that between 10%-15% of all doctors in the United States go through substance abuse at some point during their career."

I haven't read the article. I treat all patients with chronic nonmalignant pain with a high degree of concern for addiction to opioids, but physicians/healthcare workers get scrutinized more. There's nothing like the feeling that you should be impervious to the risk of iatrogenic injury to make you more at risk for it.

Inpatient pain is not something that chronic pain providers are good at, and anesthesia shouldn't staff that as a serviceline. It's better suited for psychiatry/palliative, with team members that can spend time to understand the non-analgesic drivers instead of trying to treat it as a catheter serviceline.

As if absurd media narratives didn’t exist during the Trump era lol.

If the media had not completely discredited itself over the past 4 years, the Trump narrative on election fraud would be ludicrous.

Because people have been hearing about Trump being a Russian agent, "multiple felon", CONSTITUTIONAL CRISIS creator, Hitler, etc, with Dems trying to impeach for the hillariously sophmoric charge of obstructing congress, intelligent people have rightfully concluded that previously respectable news outlets are just tabloids now.

The consequence of that childish circus is exactly what you are seeing, many people believe Trump more than the Media. It's that simple.

Exactly...I just wish he would stop spreading this nonsensical theory of widespread, systemic voter fraud and I wish people were intelligent enough to not buy into it, but I guess that’s asking for a bit too much nowadays.

Id like to hear evidence. Not opinions. Would like numbers on how many dead people voted, how many votes came in from business addresses, how many illegal votes cast. Then want to know how is this different from prior elections.

I would love to see that as well. However, no one has been able to produce admissible (not opinions or hearsay) evidence of fraud during multiple legal proceedings. Considering elections seem to be administered by a patchwork of local officials and volunteers, it’s a given that a small percentage of errors will occur, as they have during past elections. It’s not enough to change the outcome, and it’s not the same thing as “widespread voter fraud.”

You wont hear it bc its not there. The only difference this time is that the guy in the white house is a 250 pound delusional orange crybaby. Anybody dies on jan 6th, it is on trump's head.

Meanwhile, trump is bitching out the georgia sec of state while all my relatives overseas have already been vaccinated. Is there any reason why cvs and walgreens cant have people lined up around the block for their shots right now? Its beyond incompetence at this point. Its apathy. Apathy for governing while people die.

Here's some apparent evidence. Also look up the testimony by attorney Jesse Binnall before the Senate Homeland Security Committee on Dec 16th. He had proof of nearly 90,000 fraudulent votes that were cast. The evidence is out there. The judges don't want to deal with it or the repercussions of overturning the election which could include their houses being burned to the ground and possibly even death.

Am i wrong?
About the vaccine, yes you are criminally wrong. The development, manufacture, approval, and logistics of delivery to states has been like a world wonder. It's not as perfect as planned but still has been an incredible feat on the part of the federal govt - an unprecedented accomplishment that will forever enshrine Trump as a brilliant leader during one of the most challenging times in American history.

The rollout of the vaccines at the state level is an entirely different story.

This is why it's important to vote for competent state govt officials especially in the governor's office. They need to be EXECUTIVES, not figureheads with certain skin colors and sexual orientations.

Lol if you think trump is a brilliant leader than you need not say more.

in multiple court cases, trump and his allies have stated there has been fraud but do not present any evidence of widespread fraud. presenting fake evidence - which is apparently what they had - exposes these attorneys to perjury. likewise in the Nevada cases. Binnall talks a good story but he could not present any credible evidence of widespread fraud for the judges to rule on.

your comment otherwise is a complete hypothetical. judges don't rule based on fear of their own lives. they rule based on truth and justice.

which is why Trump is 1 for 60 in election court cases.

------------------
and hyper - you conveniently forget that the 1st vaccine that has been developed and FDA approved and made available did not involve Operation Warp Speed and through no action of Trump.

Pfizer vaccine was developed without Trump.

Hyperbole.

Most of the cases were not heard and no evidence was presented. Not the same as Schiff saying he had evidence and refused to present it when asked.

what is hyperbolic?

be careful how you answer. if you want to have the credibility you pine for on this board, answer with facts and logic.

How many lawsuits filed?
How many dismissed due to wrong filing, lack of standing?
How many of the cases were allowed where facts presented to judge and a judicial opinion regarding the cases merits (or lack thereof) were there?

yes, the suits were filed by awful lawyers, who can barely spell and don't know their geography. but if there is any merit to the cases, they will be heard by a judge. they dont even make it to court because there is NOTHING there.

actually, the problem is that there are no facts to present by the trump administration. they have talked about sweeping claims of fraud but in every single lawsuit the trump campaign has not presented any cases of widespread fraud.

because there aren't any.

these statements of widespread fraud have been categorically denied by state legislators, pollers, the FBI, even William Barr, the ultimate trump supporter.

Republican and Democrat.

face facts - trump is making up all of his nonsensical statements. they are lies.

So what are all these reports about a patient bursting even though it did not burst people getting sent home. Then suitcases come out from under the table. All this captured on video. Then they say no that’s normal. Something is fishy. If there’s evidence it should be presented if there’s no evidence and it should be presented and mocked.

My guess is that there are too many things that COULD BE suspicious in too many places that amount to this weak, ominous, case without any central, actionable charge.

I'm sure some of the incidents were investigated and explained but you can't investigate every single claim that may result in a few hundred ballots being changed.

Just my impression. I trust the courts for the most part.

My medical credibility?
I pine for it?
Sheesh, I wasn't even supposed to be here today.....

Lobel,

Let me remind you you're under oath, before the committee/chairman SSdoc. A transcript will be available to you by mail if you wish.

The f*&k?

if you go off the rails, there is no reason for anyone to believe you. you have to deal in reality.

hawkeye seemed like a great pain medicine resource until he starting chirping about how there is no such thing as global warming / anthropogenic climate change and how anyone who is homosexual is a weirdo.

you see, you lose credibility when you start to espouse conspiracy theories with no evidence.

steve always harkens back to data and literature in debating pain medicine treatments. if you want that moral high ground, you cant promote or accept the baseless lies floating around the GOP.

i am certainly no the judge and jury. but i'd like to think that we can deal in the plane of reality, rather than infowars.

Reality? Like the one where Trump and his whole family are now in jail for "multiple felonies"?

Do you visit them in prison sometimes in your reality?

fake news.

if you don't trust me, don't trust democrats - then listen to conservative sources:
William Barr
Bill Raffensperger
Barbara Cegavske

Pat Toomey PA senator
Mitt Romney
John Thune
Ben Sasse
Lamar Alexander

even Lindsay Graham.....

Heritage Foundation lists all the documented cases of election fraud. yes, before you get deceived by the facts - 1308 cases, but since 1982.

for 2020, there are a total listed of 15 cases across the country.

First of all, this Trump lawyer’s claims have been debunked. Secondly, please pick a more credible news source unless you want to go full Alex Jones on us.
Finally, courts do not have the resources or time to examine evidence for every single claim that is made. For example, if I believe the earth is flat and decide to sue an airline for overestimating the flight time and distance based on their concept of a round earth, the burden of proof would be on me to provide evidence corroborating my theory. If this evidence is not valid, the court is not going to go out of its way to find this evidence to back up my claim. They are simply going to dismiss the case. Otherwise, our judicial system would be tied up for decades if they had to investigate every single claim.

Dude, look in the mirror. It's too much work to go through your 8,000+ posts, or even those since 2016.

Read post #15 again. To many people, implausible is no longer good enough.

The tried and true 'blame the media' routine?

Look, the media is not blameless (on both sides) but if you believe what trump is saying, then there really is no point in having a discussion.

If you are accusing me of not dealing with reality, then back it up. Ill admit when im wrong, but dont be a coward and call me out without any substance behind it
