I just wanna do a little survey of the difficulty of Path in various med schools.

did any of you only/primarily use BRS Path to study for class? Was it enough to do well in your class?

Sometimes BRS books are enough for class. Other times, the class goes into way more detail, and BRS would surely guarantee you a C grade.

Enough for class? NO
Enough for Step I? Moreso than for class.

To make honors in your preclinical classes, you need to generally read a textbook AND lecture notes.

Obviously, someone is behind the curve. 😉 Just kidding, I had the same question. I just bought the Big Robbins and it seems to be quite well written. I'm groaning at the thought of more histology--in the form of histopathology. 🙁

I agree with bigfrank about BRS. As for the "Big" Robbins path book, we used that book too. We found out half way through our second semester of path that this is the book Pathology residents use. It is way too detailed for what med students need to know, but the info is there if you want it. It's kind of like the Moore text for anatomy, make sure you know the clinical boxes and you'll be fine. Of course you'll need to read the corresponding material from the chapter, but before long you'll be able to see whats overboard and what's necessary to know for class.

Hi there,
Was BRS enough detail for class? No, we had an awesome syllabus that I still use today. We used Robbins but there is a Baby Robbins that touches the high points well much the same as Baby Moore is what you need to know for Gross Anatomy.
