was reinstated earlier a few weeks ago.

I posted on here a while back and everybody was putting the blame on me (even though it was a miscommunication on my academic status) and said I was never gonna win. But i did it and back into my US MD program.

Any future students facing dismissal or issues with their COM you have rights. Fight for yourself advocate for yourself.

My DMS are open if you guys want the firm that I worked with for anyone down the line!

Original thread: Facing dismissal need some insight (USMD) it’s actually crazy

I'm glad this worked out for you. If you look at the thread, many people suggested you actually had a decent claim. Sounds like their verbal and written communication to you was discordant. In general, the time when legal action tends to be successful is when schools (or residency programs) take admin/disciplinary action and don't follow their written policies (which is basically what happened here).

Most important thing for you to do is not fail something going forward!

I'm going to ask a bold Q. How much did this law firm charge you? If you feel that this Q is way inappropriate, then just ignore. Or if you want to DM, that's obviously ok too. TY & congrats! "Not a PD" gave you a great answer.

Glad it worked out - I was one of the ones encouraging you to lawyer up. (To anyone reading this - go read the thread notaprogdirector linked - this was a unique case with a solid basis for a lawsuit - the docs posting in the thread seemed split in the favor of OP having a case)

I agree with above - can you give a ballpark range of your legal fees for anyone else who ends up in this position years from now when you've long since stopped checking SDN?

Even if you want to pick on of these bands:

<$10k
10-20k
20-30k
31k+

For a lot of people facing your situation being able to go to attorneys with an idea of legal fees will be helpful.

I am curious as to what this cost you

For future readers, it is ALWAYS worth a consultation with an attorney who is knowledgeable about education law. Considering the ramifications of losing out on a career as a physician, it's a no-brainer. Even if the attorney looks at your case and says "you're screwed," at least you did your due diligence.

Reasonably certain the OP posted this on Reddit:

Thread #1:

This is actually not me but my legal fees were lower in the $9K range as I had accommodation issues and handbook was not followed. I did message this person on Reddit and their issue was similar but they went with a different firm and had some complexity in their case compared to mine

Mine was 9K. But I talked to people and definitely expect the price ranges to be in the 10-20K avg.
