what are the advantages and disadvantages of doing residency here?

Not that I've ever heard of...

Pros:
excellent training
live and work in big city (if you like that sort of thing)
wide scope of patient exposure
excellent children's hospital
huge free park right across the street from the hospital
the arch
casinos/boats

Cons:
competitive to get into
income low compaired to cost of living
casinos/boats (as in no time to go to...)
tourists looking at the arch
