The incident occurred inside the locker room at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. Arenas, 27, reportedly went for his gun first after a verbal fight with Crittenton about a gambling debt. Crittenton, 22, allegedly brandished a firearm as well, the Post reports, citing unnamed inside sources.

Maybe the team should change their name back to the "Bullets"?

David Stern just suspended, indefinitely and without pay, Gilbert Arenas from the NBA pending completion of the investigations by the NBA and local authorities.

It is a real shame that many people make poor choices in their life in moments of hasty decisions. However, this usually reflects a lifelong history of poor social programming and role model figures in their lives. This guy, who had so much going for him, now has to be accountable for basically the bad habits he's grown into a man with that someone never corrected earlier in his developmental years. David Stern now becomes the non-permissive, "tough-love" daddy that Arenas apparently never had. Isn't that sad?

Of course, this whole thing has been completely train-wrecked by my favorite opportunistic parasite and theopolitical pundit, Al Sharpton, who can never manage to keep his mouth shut when a headline or soundbite can be grabbed or dropped. Check out the "twitter" feud between the two of them (you'll have to scroll down to see Sharpton's comments)...

I don't know why anyone is surprised that uneducated guys from the ghetto, who are being paid $millions to do the one thing that distinguishes them from other uneducated guys from the ghetto, are behaving like uneducated guys from the ghetto.

I wonder if the guns they were waving around were ghetto Glocks ...

The initial reported story appears to be false.

From what I understand, after an argument between the two about a gambling debt Crittenton threatened to shoot Gilbert in the knee if he didn't pay. Gilbert the next day as a joke brought four unloaded guns to locker room and left a note for Crittenton to pick one and shoot.

He probably didn't know how serious it is to bring guns to the work place. ...he is going to find out. Its too bad because Gilbert is pretty far from being a thug. He is more of a perennial jokester.

In fairness, Crittendon was the child of a single mother but still was an honor student in high school. Sounds like neither were thugs.

Maybe I shouldn't cast them in the same ******ed pot as Plaxico ...
