Hi all,

I could use some advice. I've been accepted into both the Drexel MSP program and the Washu StL postbacs.

My stats are: 3.34 cGPA and 3.0 sGPA and 25 MCAT. MSP gives me a chance to take a formal MCAT course to improve my score and from what I've heard the classes are oriented to the MCAT. There are only 2 undergrad courses offered though. WashU offers an MCAT course but its much less focused on and they offer much more undergrad courses that would increase my gpa (some that I've already taken and think I can perform much better in).

The MSP program is a year long; I'd apply for med school the summer afterwards and matriculate into the IMS (med school classes with Drexel MS1s) during the glide year. I talked to a WashU rep and he said it could take anywhere from 1-3 years to repair gpa there.

I'm leaning towards MSP because it seems much more formal w/ a focus on MCAT? What do you guys think is best for my situation? Drexel MSP or Washu? Thanks!

ps. WashU is much closer to me since I live in the midwest

My overall gpa is similar to yours and I was considering the Washu SL program but ultimately decided against it since it didn't seem structured enough or straight to the point - i'd already taken most of the classes they offer, and I didn't want to spend that much money to just retake them as an undergrad. (my undergrad FAFSA ran out and I was not about to take out private loans)

Between those two I would personally choose Drexel since it seems more targeted at what you need, MCAT prep + extra GPA boost. Plus the IMS program has a connection with their medical school I think which is always a plus.

Or go based on finances, also important to consider. Good luck either way!

Thanks for the response! I ended up choosing Drexel. After I posted here, I contacted a former WashU post-bacc student and honestly his review scared the crap out of me. Not sure how much truth there was to everything he said but I'd rather not risk it. He said that it wasn't very structured (as you guessed) and that the camaraderie between students was terrible. I'm sure there are good things about the program too but again, I just don't want to risk it.

Sent in my deposit and off to MSP I go
