i have heard from some med students that it is to late to turn in 2nds becuase it is november and right now schools have just thousands of apps and it is just such a disadvantage right now and i would be wasting my money? any truth

well some schools claim they will give you a "fair, timely, and professional" review, so i guess your good for some?

Georgetown and GWU's secondaries aren't really due for another 1.5 months, so you probably have (in principle) a little leeway still.

so from the vibe im getting its way to late

One thing I've learned is to not listen to other pre-meds because all htey want to do is screw you.

THIS IS NOT TRUE, maybe for you, all we said is there is at least some chance that some schools will not hold this against you. if you are refering to the med students he mentioned then fine, but there is no reason why they would screw him.

over all i think you should get it out as soon as possible, haha in fact i couldn't submit some until last week, so don't worry, just hurry up

I'm still submitting secondaries. In fact, I just submitted one today.

From what I've heard... Right now there are still people sending in their primary AMCAS, and there are a ton of people who sent it in last month or whatever who still haven't been verified. Although schools tell you to turn things in as early as possible due to rolling admissions, there are many that don't have secondary deadlines till the beginning of 2007. I'm sure there are some schools that it may be too late for, but not for all of them.

Schools do tell you to turn them in ASAP, but it's never too late. If your scores are right, your PS is right, your LOR are right, and your ECs are right, you've got as good as a chance as... anyone else applying right now.

Plus, I personally know at least two people who applied on the very very very very last day (deadline day in dec) and got into Md/PhD programs..

So, it's never to late as long as you're okay with the panicking.

I submitted my last one yesterday. Its deadline is today. Just do what you want to do and listen to others.

Depends on the program. Many schools had a deadline today, so yes, it would be too late, but there's got to be some schools out there with later deadlines. I just can't echo this enough though, as the medical schools themselves stress everyone to 1) take the APRIL or SPRING MCAT, rather than August and 2) Apply early and return secondary materials ASAP. Not only does it probably increase your channces for success, but it's so much easier to plan your interview strategy and schedule.
