Wayne State and Loyola U

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Are you talking about Loyola in Chicago? (or near chicago).

Dr McClatchey, well known to many as an author of textbooks, was the chairman there, and he passed away recently (december). Very sad, he was still young. I am not sure if this would impact anyone's decision, but an important thing to know about Loyola.

Thank you for this important point.
Yes, I am asking about Loyola U near Chicago (Maywood). Well, I'll go there soon.
Anything about Wayne State?

Simon,

I am from the Detroit area and went to WSU for med school.
I'm not sure of the specifics of there program at this time.
I can tell you that the pathology there is quite impressive.
You are going to see bonkers pathology. It is good because for a comparable size city there are not nearly as many programs say as Chicago, Philly, etc.. So you will see it all.

The guy who wrote and administers Pathologyoutlines.com did his residency there.

Having stated the above, you have to be willing to tolerate cold winters, administration of the university, and having to work in downtown Detroit. The suburbs of Detroit are quite liveable.
I enjoyed obtaining my medical education there.
Overall, I feel you would leave the program a well trained pathologist able to proceed to any fellowship of your choice or community practice. Good luck.

B 🙂
