I was wondering if anyone had any insight into this program that i might be missing. I was very impressed with their program. There is a ton of research going on at the perinatology reasearch branch of the NIH, they have GynOnc, MFM, and REI fellowships, it's a large program with 11 per year and the residents i spoke with seemed happy. I only have 2 concerns. First, almost their entire program is made up of FMG's. I was really surprised by that since it seems to be such a solid program. Now before anyone yells at me, i have absolutely no problem with FMG's ( I went to med school in Ireland before I transferred to a US school), I just wondered why they didn't attract more US grads. My second concern was the recent departure of several faculty members, including the acting chair. Apparently there was a dispute over the university wanting to start up a practice at the hospital that the faculty members didn't want. In essence i think it came down to money, but i would be a little concerned about the stability of the program only for this reason. Can anyone offer any insight? Right now they are my first choice, as much as i hate detroit I really felt like the program was one of the stronger ones i interviewed with.
