I wonder what their GRE requirement is? Anyone know?
Oh okay, thanks. I'm assuming there may have been a mix up because there are a few people with the same last name as mine that have applied. Hopefully I'll receive the email soon.I'm just stressing a bit because Brenda didn't know wheather or not I was accepted only that my file had been reviewed and that the sent the email out yesterday.
Question about the Wayne State MBS program
Basically, I missed the deadline of June 01...this is the only program that accepts students for the second semester though, so there's another deadline October 01.
If I applied and got in for the winter term, where would I stand in terms of the program? Would I just graduate one semester later than "standard" MBS students?
Also, how good is this program as far as getting into medical schools? I couldn't find anything about guaranteed interviews or acceptances, but I hear that 1/3 of MBS students go to Wayne State SOM. How about other schools? Does it have a chance for UMich? OOS schools like University of Virginia, EVMS, or MCV (I'm a VA resident 😀 )? I just wish I could either see a statistic of how many go onto med school, or a list of who went where, etc.
Hey everyone! It's nice to see people getting a bit excited about the BMS program. I finished my first year in late April and am currently applying to medical school--fingers crossed!
If you're wondering which classes to take for the first semester, most of us took 8 credits. At orientation, they recommended that we take BMB 7010 (Biochem) and PSL 7010 (Physio I). Some students took more than 8 credits, but most of us felt that BMB and PSL were more than enough to keep us busy, especially those of us who work.
Also, note that you'll need 20 credits to apply to Wayne. I took 8 credits my first semester and 12 credits my second. Taking 12 credits at once was hectic, so maybe try to do 10 and 10 if you feel you can handle it (though I still recommend starting with 8 for the first semester).
If you have more questions about the program, feel free to message me. I look forward to seeing some of you around in the fall!
For those of you who have been accepted, could you please log into your online application for the BMS program and tell me what the message that was posted was, at the bottom of the page? I am kind of confused, thanks in advance.
Yeah I have a question about the Winter start to the program. If you start in the winter, do you finish in the summer or the following fall? I didn't want to start in the fall and (if i get accepted to a DO school) not be able to finish the program. It would probably take a seat away from someone who would probably do the full year

Will be withdrawing my acceptance to attend UMich MS in Physiology
That program is a year long right?
Well good luck!Yep 🙂 that was the clincher for me between the two
I was supposed to be notified if I was accepted or not by today. Do they send an email or is it supposed to be on the Grad Admission Application Status page???
Do you think I can get into this program with a 2.94 undergrad GPA?
I wasn't sure whether I'd get in with my stats (I had a 3.02 sGPA in undergrad and a 3.48 cGPA), but it seemed like they took a fair number of people with stats similar to mine. It's hard to say what they'll be looking for at any point and how competitive it is for certain years, but it's always best to try! I've also heard that it's less competitive if you start winter term, so if you don't get accepted for Fall 2012, you can also apply for Winter 2013 later.Do you think I can get into this program with a 2.94 undergrad GPA?
Hi there! I applied in late March of 2010 and heard back in mid-May. Since it was a couple years ago I realize that the dates may have changed, but I remember hearing that they would get back to us in June. Some of my classmates didn't hear until later in July or August, though; I think it depends on how many people are applying and how many people accept their acceptances.Hi everyone, let me start with I love this forum and all you guys do. I applied late march or better early april in this program and I was wondering when will I be expecting an answer from them. I want to call them, however I worry I will bother them too early. Thank you in advance for your answers...

If you still want to call you'll probably speak to Brenda, who is an extremely nice woman who is unlikely to be annoyed with you. :]
Sorry--I'm not too sure what the requirements are in terms of GPA and MCAT. My undergrad sGPA was 3.02 and my first MCAT was 28--numbers not dissimilar from yours. I think it probably varies based on the applicant pool. As I said in an earlier post, though, if you really want to do this program and don't get in for the fall (though I'm hoping you do!), you can always apply to start winter term. This helped some people who weren't accepted the first time.👍👍👍
Thank you so much, the idea of not knowing until July :S or August 🙁 just throws me off completely but o well, it is what it is... Since you are already in this program would you be able to know if I stand any chance at all with a 25mcat and cUg 3.1, bugger I should have studied more when the time was right. Hopefully they give me a second chance, after all who is to say I should not pursue medicine...right?![]()

I think everyone deserves a second (or third, or fourth!) chance at medicine if it's truly what he or she wants to do. The BMS program allowed me to prove to myself and to medical schools that I really can handle and excel at this work, and I hope you get the opportunity to do the same.
Best wishes.
👍👍👍
