Hello all, I never expected to get 4 MD II and to be able to have the blessing to narrow my choice down to my top two schools on my list but here we are.

Wayne State:

Pros:
1st choice since undergrad
match very well
tons of history, very established
1.5 year pre clinical
278K IS tuition
good research opportunities

Cons:
huge class size
disorganized
have heard the vibes are not great

OUWB

Pros:
2nd choice on school list
small class size
vibes seem rlly nice
match pretty solid
Beaumont/corewell affiliation

Cons:
378K IS tuition
less research opportunities
may be harder to match into a more competitive specialty

Summary: I am interested in a competitive specialty and have always wanted to go to wayne med. OU WB seems like a much better vibe and I love the smaller class size, but I think wayne sets me up better for the future. Let me know what thoughts you guys have.

Have you been accepted to both of these?

I would say you should take the IS tuition at Wayne that is around 43k a year instead of Oakland's 61k a year.

I read your pro/con as leaning to Wayne State.

Vibes are great until you get into trouble with passing your classes or getting cited for professionalism issues. Not saying it would happen to you, but how many students have to remediate a year in each of those programs (and why)?

I would also say you have both of those schools at the top of your list for a reason (proximity). Cost is not a trivial concern. If they both seem equivalent when it comes to preparing you for a desired residency, presumably also around the area, go to the cheaper school.

Of course, do you think Beaumont would give you a scholarship to match the in-state tuition? If so, then what would you think if all costs are equal? How much should Beaumont give to make you switch preferences?
