Wazing #3 in 3 hours

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You'll get a lot faster pretty soon and it won't be as much of a chore. I suck at wax ups and was able to finish #2-15 today in less time than that.

What exactly does wazing entail? Sounds dirty.😀

 Worst tooth ever!

That sucker took me 8 hours and it still looked like crap. 😡

We just did that as our final practical in in 3 1/2 hours...talk about crappy.

Can anyone give me any insight regarding the amount schools have to wax up on a tooth? For example I attend the University of Florida and we generally only have to wax occlusal surfaces... ...Does anyone have to wax up roots as well? what do they give you to wax up?

At Creighton, I think we did 5-6 full wax-ups (w/roots) at about 3x size and then we did 3 practicals that were normal size: max 1st pre-molar w/ bifurcated root, another pre-molar, and the max 1st molar (w/o roots). All the wax-ups are timed and can only be worked on in the lab and the practicals are all 3 1/2 hrs. That class has destroyed my gpa...

At Columbia, we had to do 10 full crown preps/wax-ups (generally 1 per week or 2) Each of them had to be signed off and at the end of the semester our entire typodont has to be haded in (due this upcoming Friday during our 2nd practical actually). Basically, we have to do a max central, max canine, all four premolars and the 1st + 2nd molars (not 3rd molars since their morphology varies). For practicals, we have four hours to do prep PLUS wax-up. the first practical was a maxillary canine and the second practical is mandibular 1st molar.
