Hey everyone,

I'm trying to decide between WCUCOM and Touro Harlem.
I absolutely loved William Carey University, but the chance to live in NYC is also appealing.

I felt much more in tune with the faculty, students, and environment at WCU and felt I could do well there, but I feel NYC might offer better/more diverse rotation opportunities and research opportunities for the first summer.

There's also the huge cost of living in NYC, so I'm trying to decide if the extra cost is worth those few extra opportunities in NYC.

Thoughts?

My vote is touro-harlem.

I'm sure WCU-COM will come back (maybe better) after the tornado but right now wouldn't risk it. Buildings are still being rebuilt.

But they expect to be rebuilt fully by Fall. Even if they aren't done completely by the time school starts, would it be so bad to have classes in surrounding lecture halls/other campuses? Faculty and curriculum wouldn't change right?

I was just down there last week. The COM buildings look pretty much rebuilt and I believe they're moving back in real soon.

Yeah but my rationale is administration is focused more on rebuilding than improving curriculum or supporting faculty (which is understandable). Ultimately, I am sure this event will help WCU-COM (possibly get rid of required attendance as some posters on school-specific subform have hinted) but its too early to tell.

Both schools have a bad rep on SDN. So its not like anyone is going to fervently support either institution. I just think Touro-Harlem would be the lesser of two evils for this specific year.

I've heard wcu has serious problems outside of the damage to the school. That being said touro supposedly does as well so I'd pick based on location and gut feeling.

Hard spot to be. My friend picked touro is really happy to be out. Their admin was apparently a nightmare and they had wayyy too many unmatched students.

Even when I interviewed and the admissions lady handed us their match list, their sea of TRI-only matches was a red flag.
