VCOM-Monroe
Pros
- great support and opportunities for remediation
- rotation sites are set up and growing in Louisiana in teaching hospital
- opportunity for research
-good reputation
-other VCOM locations have great match rates into competitve specialty and Prim Care
Cons
- area has high crime rate/not much to do
- newer branch school so no rates on COMLEX/Residency Match

WCUCOM
Pros
-established longer
-rural rotation sites with teaching hospitals
- cheaper by $5,000
- facculty seem kind, but not sure how i'd vibe with everyone
-very safe area
Cons
- high attrition rate of 10%
-class size increase from 100 to 200
- historically lower COMELX pass rate, but last year did higher than average

Both of these schools seem very similar and everyone is kind. They have high residency match rates. Ultimately, I would like to go to a school where I know I can succeed but that will support me and allow me to be competitive for residency. I love VCOM but I don't know since it is a new campus despite them saying they have sites set up/ same curriculum. If you guys attend these schools/ think one school is def better over the other please let me know!

I would do WCU and skip the headache of a new campus at VCOM. The matches and COMLEX scoring are an unknown and likely won’t be as good as the older VCOM campuses till more classes have graduated.

That makes sense, but how about the high attrition rate at WCU and historically lower board scores?

They had issues and they have fixed those. Stay focused there and reach out to upperclassmen at WCU who can give advice. VCOM Monroe students have no info they can pass down about preparing for residency apps. I know there’s one poster here who is at WCU and can speak more to it FutureDoctor5000
