I would like to know how you comment my ECs. My advisor told me due to the lack of research experience my competitiveness would be quite low, considering my average score. And most of my ECs were done overseas. I get a kinda special story in pursuing medicine. Anyone would like to have a brief read? I'm not sure if I could post my story in PS here but the privacy is not the concern.

Medical related

In US:
volunteer in Alameda Country Medical Center (over 230 hours, 1 year and continue)
volunteer in hospice (1 year and continue)
shadowing MD (enterologist) (30 hours and continue)

Outside US:
volunteer in a Chinese hospital (similar duties with in ACMC, 500 hours in 4 months)
shadowing MD in China (100 hours, 4 months)
My volunteer and shadowing in China were carried out together actually, but I separably listed the time, meant the total was around 600 hours
Massuer in a massage healthcare store in Australia, had a Chinese primary massage certificate (900 hours, 1 year)

Non-medical related

volunteer in Sydney international FIFA FAN FEST 2010 (30 hours-ish,1 month)
Waiter in Chinese resaturant, Australia (100 hours, 2 months)
Carrier in clothes factory, Australia (80 hours, 2 months)

Leadership:

Administrator in computer company, Australia (800 hours,1 year)
Private tutor for 4-year student, maths, Australia (around 8 months, part time)

No remarkable award, just got one from postbac program for academic merit
Graduated from Australia, we don't have a dean's list or so🙁

Your US medically-related volunteering seem to be very good.

Because I came to US 1.5 years ago and had to deal with postbac study, that's all I can do. The research experience seems to pull me down a lot, as said by my advisor. He mentioned that the oversea experience was useless....🙁

The best EC you can do is marry a US citizen to boost your competitiveness.
