I'm interested in these issues only because I've discussed with several practicing Anesthesiologists the benefit of being at a place where the cutting edge surgeries are done, and all the latest equipment is used frequently. Even if you don't plan on an acedemic practice or one that does many cases beyond the bread and butter stuff, it seems reasonable to seek it out during training.
The basics are going to get covered everywhere, regular exposure to everything is a little less common I'm sure.
