Anyone using this a review tool? Seems like most people are using the Robbins question book. I know web path was a great resource in the past, but I'm wondering if its outdated (ie to many buzz words, not enough in depth pathophys).

Im using BRS and then looking at the images on web path and then doing the quiz on images. You figure with step 1 being at least 60% Path, this is where you want to spend the most Time. I used webpath during the yr, but making sure I review all of the images again.

I dont know an exact bkdown but just making an assumption that the exam is most pathophys with/micro and pharm thrown in.

Found this resource to be invaluable when studying for Path as a course. The pictures cannot be beat. However, I found that most of the path on my boards were in the from of clinical vignettes - not pictures. Therefore, the WebPath was not quite so valuable.

I really found that for much of the path - you were given what the disease state was in the vignette and then were asked a second or third degree question (what accumulates in Gaucher's or Tay-Sachs or Krabbe's?) Or, what type of inheritance? Or what's missing in the pathway? Not What is this? You might keep in it mind whan you are studying the actual diseases, to go through a little bit on each one.

WebPath has clinical vignettes w/o pictures, which I like a lot! Its in a test format and keeps a score for you.

i used webpath for the shelf and some of the more obscure quetions on webpath were actually similar to ones on the shelf. i also used robbins and someof the questions in robbins were similar to webpath also.:idea: i wonder if the authors of both write for the boards?

Just wondering, how did you guys get the web path? I haven't heard of people talk about it for a while, and if it's a cd, can I buy it from someone who is not using it anymore?

Webpath does have good pics but is waaaay to easy. The questions require very little thinking.

I think you would be better served using USMLEWorld for your path review for step 1.

But, webpath is free so obviously not a bad thing to do if you have extra time. I would by no means use it as my primary question source.

People have talked about doing webpath questions...but I'm wondering if anyone has found it high-yield to review the path/histo slides on Webpath a few days before the test? I'm trying to figure out if I should review the webpath slides or slides from Goljan's RR path book.

I don't know if he writes for the boards but it's the same author.

FWIW (since I haven't 'officially' started studying for the boards OR taken the actual thing):

I just had a block exam, and <gasp!> I had time to do some practice questions (horrible nasty difficult block). I used webpath and Robbins. Oddly enough I found webpath more difficult than Robbins QBook (WTH???) 😕.

But anyways, even if you find webpath "easy", I think it was a great reinforcement tool (at least for me, and I'm just talking about an exam in medschool- not Step1) if you got a question wrong (in the sense that you can see that you don't know whatever topic well enough, aka, review your weak areas).

Now, if you want something really really reaaaally easy, try "USMLeasy".... I don't know why my school even bothers with a subscription to that thing 😴

I am officially on spring break as of today and here I am, posting on SDN, what a sad sad life I have :laugh: I need to find myself a boyfriend :laugh:

I checked out the link above, and it doesn't have all the questions that is available to us at FSU COM. Dr. Klatt (the author of Webpah, and also the co-author of the Robbins QBook) is our professor for Path. I think perhaps the CD version for purchase has the complete set of questions. As FSU med students, we have access to the full version for free. Regardless, Webpath is great for following along with the course.

No, by no means is it comprehensive. But its a great collection of images, and Step 1 has quite a few pictures on it.

Like Goljan mentioned, usually you don't have to use the image to answer the question but it certainly saves time. Every now and then you'll be able to answer the question without even reading the passage!

Do you think that the free online version of webpath is enough or do you recommend buying the CD/subscription?

Well, I got a-hold of the CD version from a friend and its pretty nice. It seems to have a couple additional sections/organ systems that I didn't see in the online version. But it could be that the CD was old and webpath had consolidated the sections online. Either way, I don't think its necessary to purchase it.

You can google any images you can't find there. Heheh, and you can also try my prof's path site which has links to every image out there. Google "pathguy" + "[insert topic here]" and it'll automatically direct you to that subject on his site.
