will being a DO applicant and getting less than 240 (almost...got a 238/96) on step I, keep me out of optho residencies?

Actually, you're in good shape. The handful of DO applicants who applied to Iowa did NOT take the USMLE!

I'm curious to know, how did you guys evaluate someone with only COMLEX scores?

I'm planning on taking both. There are still too many people who don't know what a good COMLEX score is...heck, theres even old-timers who don't know what a DO is 😱
