Week 1 of Studying: Feeling Sick to My Stomach

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Just take it a day at a time. I'm sure everybody felt the same way starting. A month or a couple weeks later everything would or should just click. =) Remember to take breaks and enjoy one day a week to not burn yourself out. You'll be able to retain more information that way too. I still make time for Game of Thrones and Love and Hip Hop Atlanta every Sunday and Monday night. hahahah

Hey guys...
So I have been studying for about a week now. I have been focusing on doing Chad's videos, Cliffs Bio alongside with Feralis for now. I am not going to lie, but I am seriously freaking out right now.

My test is scheduled for July 27th right now and I am just relieved it is more than 2 months away. I understand alot of topics for general chemistry but there is just SO much information and I am only focusing on gen chem and Biology for now. My GPA is a 3.7 so I am not a dull lightbulb, but I am more overwhelmed by the amount of information rather than the actual content.

I often face difficulty say in a topic in gen chem and spend so much time stressing, then often find myself jumping around from topic to topic in a quest to find something I understand. I quit chemistry for the night to study Biology and now going to Feralis just seems overwhelming now too! Granted It has not been a while but i am seriously upset and sick to my stomach with anxiety and nervousness about how I am going to be able to pull this off :arghh: Does anyone have any tips with dealing with this kind of stuff? I know I can do it but right now I feel like I am drowning in material and it is so hard to take it one day at a time because I keep focusing on the overall picture and not one page of feralis / Chad video at a time

Thanks man. I hate complaining about things, especially when it comes to work or school because everyone has to get through it, but it has been bothering me so much. It's just so stressful knowing that your life (the career you really want to pick and not the overall success of life) depends on this stupid test. I guess this is what separates the winners from the losers...

Take it slow, you are letting your nervousness take control of you. When you get nervous you cant think clearly. Do you own the dat destroyer? If you do, you will learn so much from completing the problems in it. You know how bones break but get stronger when they are healed? Im not saying you should go out and break a limb, but letting the destroyer kill you like so many of us will do you wonders. I learn a lot from every mistake I made. Remember, making mistakes now cant hurt you. Just keep plowing through and eventually you'll be able to put it all together.

You have 2 months to study, take a deep breath.

1. Do not start bio with Feralis' notes, they are too in depth. Start with Cliff's and once you are done you can move to Feralis' notes if you desire.
2. Watch Chad's chem videos until you really understand the topics completely. Do ALL of his quizzes.
3. Watch PAT videos online and do 15 min of the generators every single day for each subsection that is available on Bootcamp (get this if you haven't)
4. Read online scientific articles and then start doing some Bootcamp practice exams + Dat Genius' free exam
5. Watch Chad's QR videos then start Destroyer
6. Once you have read Cliff's and done all of Chad's, move to Destroyer. Go through it at least 2x and MAKE YOUR OWN NOTES on everything you don't understand. This is where you will really learn. Do the first 2-3 bootcamp section exams and really read the answer explanations.
7. Use the last few Bootcamp exams as full lengths and then take the 2007 + 2009 ADA practice exams. The 2009 exam should be taken 3 days before your real exam.

You'll never feel ready for this test, it's just too broad, but if you are hitting your ideal score on the last few Bootcamp exams and the official DAT exams, you're more likely ready than not. Good luck.
