Sorry OP this doesn't help your question. But the amount of PE involvement in Ophthalmology at this point is getting to be embarrassing. They are not only buying up entire cities, they are now training ground for fellows. Soon you'll see Goldman Sachs P.E. Duke Residency program.
I can't speak for this one specifically but I train fellows in conjunction with a private equity owned practice. The training is actually pretty good in most places because there's a lot of surgical volume. There's a "churn" mentality so be prepared for that.
The big things to watch for though is that 1) these practices may try to push you hard to sign with them after graduation and offer bonuses - this is because the owners have a big incentive to get you to sign. Be wary; these offers sound great at first but they come with major strings attached. The owners' bonus structures themselves, like shares vested and to be paid out, are contingent on hiring a certain number of new graduates, 2) they may also have you see patients independently and bill for the practice. You may be ok with this but you are essentially generating free revenue for the practice, more so than you would in an academic practice.

To be fair, a big reason even academic fellowships are non-ACGME is so the fellows can bill. That said, I would MUCH rather make an academic department some money as opposed to the suits.
Never heard of them which isn’t necessarily a bad sign, but in the retina world the reputable PE fellowships at least have/had a good reputation within the community. If you don’t have any significant connections to vet the program/practice, I’d be leery. Maybe your mentors can vouch for them or they’re bigger in the cataract scene than I know.
