So I am scheduled to have my interview at BU tomorrow...but I just received a phone call from a member of the admissions staff saying that there has been a bit of a scheduling conflict and wanted to know if I could reschedule to some time in November. I said no, both because I had already made arrangements with professors to miss class and also because I figure that it is a good thing that my interview is early and pushing it back would give me less of a chance of being accepted. The woman on the phone was completely understanding, and maybe I am over-thinking this...but was I correct in saying no? I just hope that tomorrow the interview isn't overbooked with people and allows me a much shorter time period with the interviewer? I don't know...this probably wasn't a big deal, but a bid odd and doesn't seem like a normal situation. Anyone ever had anything like this happen?

I wouldnt feel bad for saying no, its not your fault they screwed up the scheduling and its on very short notice, especially if you are out-of-state. I think you are completely justified in saying no. The one thing I will say is I dont think your chances would have really been deminished if you said yes to a november interview. I really think most pre-dec. 1st interviewees are in the same boat for competitiveness and most of that is just what mailing you were in from AADSAS.

they prob realized post-interview offer that you're over-qualified for their school, and wanted to 1) test your continued interest, and/or 2) give another applicant with stats on par with their stats a chance to interview earlier

Thank you, that makes me feel better about this.

Wait, what? Overqualified? And how would they give the spot to someone the day before the interview? I can't tell if this is sarcasm to my overthinking, haha.

Hey
I have the interview at BU tomorrow as well and I got a phone call.
I asked them why they are trying to change interview dates and she told me that one of their interviewer cannot interview tomorrow for unexpected reasons. They were worried that too many interviewees and not enough interviewers would result in a disaster.
Since I planned everything to go to interview tomorrow I also said no, but that is what the woman on the phone told me. Hope it helps.

See you tomorrow :-D

Haha, I didn't even think to ask why. I guess that would have been the more logical decision. Thanks for letting me know! See you tomorrow!
