Hmm, you could also add, "looking altruistic to other people" as a motive. Even if I am not particularly altruistic myself, it might give me an edge if I can convince OTHERS that I am. Like colleagues. Or adcoms. 😛

He is dressed nicely but not TOO nice (he doesn't want the pyramid scheme to come off as being too good to be true). He sits for hours as you talk about your SDN family, how SDN helped you through that weird rash you were experiencing last fall, etc. Then when you are emotionally tired and drained, he explains how if you moderate for about 5 weeks you will receive wealth and prestige beyond your wildest dreams.

I would totally be a sucker for that.
