First I have to say that I thought the test was quite a bit harder than the NBME's that I took. On most the nbme's I was at least able to narrow most questions down to 50/50, but on the real thing today I seemed to have quite a few WTF questions!!! My 3rd and 4th blocks seemed to be the easiest, but the 6th and 7th blocks I either hit a wall or didnt know what was going on cause I didnt seem to know any of the answers, nor had i ever seen some of that material before. I was shooting for a 240 and based on nbme i was pretty close but now I am highly skeptical if I will get anywhere near that.

My test was very neuro heavy and for the most part my micro and pharm was straight forward but the biochem was pretty detailed.

I really thought I would be estatic to get it over with but now I am kinda questioning my performance.

Another thing I noticed is that taking the NBME exams sometimes I would be left with like 30 mins left in the block even after going back over all the questions i had marked or skipped, whereas on the real thing I got the 2 min warning on pretty much every block. I kinda attribute that to maybe thinking a little to much into things. On the nbme's if i didnt know i would just go with my instinct, and not sweat it but on the actual step i think i would try to put too much thought into the question eventually running circles in my head.

I dont feel too bad because a lot of the questions i really had no clue on i dont think i would of ever gotten and even after looking them up in kaplan books or other resources cant find the answer.
