Thoughts? Do you think there is a difference between a well-rounded individual and a well rounded premed? Is there such thing as a well-rounded premed? Do any of you consider yourself to be, in fact, worthy of this adjective? 😉

If by well rounded you mean like 250 pounds and physically round...

I think a well-rounded premed has all of the usual activities such as clinical work and research but also a bunch of enriching life experiences. Basically, not just a 4.0/40 robot.

The difference between a well rounded individual and a well rounded premed is that the latter needs to have a kickass MCAT and GPA.

Well-rounded is more of a state of mind... you can do all of the typical pre-med things and still be well rounded if you are doing them for the right reasons. On the flip side, you can do a bunch of random things for the wrong reasons and still be one dimensional. If there's one piece of a advice to give, its to follow your passions. If you have a passion for bringing patients water in the med/surg floor and chatting with the nursing staff, go for it. If you have a passion for dance, go for it. Never do anything because you think it will "look good"... I promise, it won't be worth it.
