also, has anyone called upenn on 09/24 and asked why upenn has yet to send you an interview invitation(even though you applied in june) AND got the answer: "a few members of the ad com has yet to arrive"
btw, upenn will send out rejection letters as soon as they don't like an applicant, right?

halitosis.. i agree. my PAT was very low, but the rest of my scores were 22+ and my gpas were perhaps 0.05 below their average.. and i haven't heard a thing. guess they either put alot of emphasis on the PAT, or my personal statement wasn't impressive enough.. either way, i was surprised with penn, like you are.

Hate to break in but I would be really really careful about posting negative comments about personnel at particular schools. Case in point. I was a little colorful when describing a secretary from "X" dental school. Months later, I have received early interview invites from all dental schools except from "X." Coincidence? I think not.

Just not wise dude, this world is really a pretty small place. I have already found 2 members I have met personally with at interviews, so my advice is don't attack anyone unless you really don't want to go to that school. 🙁

truly folks, truly, this is disappointing. though I try not to bash anyone, either to their face or behind their backs, this is a forum, where free speech should be welcome. if there really are secret, governing figures from adcoms patrolling these threads, these forums, then i beg one of you to answer: why should anyone post ANYTHING anymore? we're not even talking about bashing people. what if some poor chap comes on here and says, "oh, i only have a 2.8, my dats are low, i have almost no shadowing, etc etc.", asking for advice, and there's some adcom figure who sees that and says "yeah, he IS right, he DOES have low stats. forget him." scary man. to tell you the truth, that's scary. like walking into a public bathroom, afraid to use it lest there are cameras next to the urinals.

all i'm saying is: if adcoms are patrolling these forums and using what is said here upon which to base their decisions, ANY decisions, be it 2ndary offer, interview offer, acceptance/rejection..; then that is indeed a sorry shame. frankly, i believe they do.
I challenge ANY adcom member coming across this post right now to present themselves. Nothing pisses me off more than sneaky, underhanded agendas like this.
btw, i'm not an angry person by nature. please check out my rodney dangerfield ("to lighten the mood") thread.

I agree with everything you just said (mr. benny), too bad the "real world" has agenda's and isn't up front and honest. Truly a sad thing, but I have seen it first hand. (long story) 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁

you would prob have more luck starting a new thread with that question in the "dental" forum... most of us here at "pre-dental" haven't even gotten into d school yet (are trying really hard though) 🙂
for what it is worth (probably nothing) here is my guess: alcohol creates an acidic environment in your mouth, which allows acidogenic bacteria to flourish while killing some benign bacteria. therefore you would have a higher risk of caries since it is the acidogenic bacteria that "eats" your teeth. plus, if you drink enough the acid itself might just erode your teeth, same as if you drink too much pop or are bulemic.
remember that i am not in dental school and do not claim to know anything for sure, this is just a guess 🙂
