Hi all, not much has been written on this program by forum users. Would ya'll mind sharing your thoughts on how solid this program is? Current residents want to chime in?

I liked the program, particularly the PD a lot, but not sure where to place it on my rank list. Thanks!

Interviewed there in December...awesome PD and associate PD...however during my interview, we had the most awkward lunch where the residents basically said they cant wait to graduate...one said i would never go here again and beware the politics...i guess they still have more going on with the merger between west penn and allegheny

too bad...thought id share my experience..hope this helps!🙄:barf::eyebrow:

Take what you read with a grain of salt... especially around rank list time. People are currently playing the match game. All of a sudden there will be a ton of horrible program stories right before it's time to make the rank list. Don't fall for it.

I can sum up the true story about West Penn very briefly. Good attendings, very reasonable hours, overall good amount of cases. Lacking in liver transplants but they are currently working on that. Lacking in research. If you want an academic career with lots of research, go somewhere else. If you want a program with strong clinical training with friendly attendings, then this program may be for you.

Best of luck.

I do agree that you should take everything you hear with a grain of salt..I was just being honest with my interview day experience...I found it very helpful to have some honest residents during that interview day...its a good program but not for me...I am not planning on ranking this program...so no competition here...GOOD LUCK🙂
