I know this could go in the reapplicants thread, but it's too overloaded with MD reapplicants.

Would you guys re-write all your secondary and your AACOMAS essay if you were to reapply?

I just applied 2 weeks before the deadline the first time around (i.e.not that many weeks ago). I will have stuff to update my file with.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, I'm retaking the MCAT in August (currently have a 9V, 8BS, and 6PS, with a 3.1 Post-bac GPA, a 2.9 overall sci GPA, and 3.5 Overall GPA)...Some people told me NOT to tell them this so that they don't hold off on evaluating my application til october...and then I should just update them with my new score randomly.

question being, benefit of having application reviewed earlier vs. benefit of waiting on a new and potentially improved MCAT score?

Generally no. If there were new things that were worth mentioning, then I would add those. Other than that, I'd keep everything basically the same

Personally, if I felt like I could improve the 23 dramatically, I would let them know I am retaking (check the box). But I do not know what the right call is.

As mentioned above, if you believe you can increase your MCAT score by at least three points, I would select "taking the August 2006 MCAT." Otherwise, let them evaluate your application as it is. Seeing that you have stuff to update your file with, I would modify your PS to include these new items. Make sure they're noteable.

Applying to DO schools after the August MCAT is not too late. However, if you were applying to MD schools though, you'd have a big disadvantage. Hope this helps.
