Guys,
I'm pretty sure I know what's awaiting me in my mailbox this evening...However, I just called my COMP counselor to ask about the status of my app and she send "a letter was sent out yesterday"...I asked her if this means no interview, and she said "um i don't know what the contents of the letter are"...She got herself out of that one quickly....It's a rejection, right? I believe COMP Emails you or calls you if you get an interview?

Also, if I did get the big rejection...Is there any point to re-applying ASAP, even though I want to take another class to boost my sci gpa to a 3.0 from a 2.93 this fall or summer, re-taking the MCAT in AUGUST, and submitting a new LOR? I would still have to update AACOMAS and they wouldn't look at my app til after the new MCAT score and LOR...Any point to applying early to COMP w/o new info?

i would spend time making your profile stronger before applying, its ok if you have to spend this year in doing so and applying in the next batch... you might get in still! good luck.

yep- i got my interview invitation via e-mail pre-secondary application; they make decision to invite you based on the AACOMAS application; however, your file has to be completed by the time of your interview. the staff at COMP has by far been superb and friendly, hands down....one of the best i've experienced (only two others- uvm and suny upstate medical u.).
my suggestion for you is try to bump up your gpa- not many schools like to see a below 3.00 gpa. my cgpa is 3.31 (low in comparison) and my science gpa is 3.67 (average) but due to the fact that my undergrad was in electrical engineering (considered a 'difficult' major), i was looked upon in a different light. applied to 3 schools, 3 interviews- 1 acceptance, 1-pending interview, 1 rejection.

So they give an interview invite based on the primary application. They don't even look at the secondary? What's the point in granting a secondary application if a person's stats aren't competitive enough for an interview in the first place? That's an interesting system as I thought most schools invite based on their opinions after the secondary. Are there any other schools that follow this rule too?

the stats are in the primary application and they use those to make a decision to invite candidates for interview- however, you must complete the secondaries prior to your interview because they use the secondaries together with your interview performance in determining whether you are accepted or not. as far as i know, COMP is the only school that does that- i dont see any reason why this could be detrimental....

According to the director of admissions at COMP, interviews granted before reviewing the supplemental application are designated as "high-priority" and account for approximately 30% of all interviews granted. However, everyone I have asked states that they received an interview invite without submitting the supplemental (myself included), so who knows...
