Western COMP vs. NYCOM

Hey everyone!

I've gotten only two acceptances this year one from Western COMP and the other from NYCOM. I was wondering if people could weigh in and give me some feedback as to where I should go. Right now I'm leaning towards western. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Where do you live now? If you live in LA, go to Western. If you live in NY, go to NYCOM. 🙂

Yeah, long story. Bicoastal relatives - as in New England and Hawaii. Do what I say, not what I do.

I would love to go to Western (due to proximity to family, good weather)

I'm gonna say Western.

However:
1. I am biased toward my bad @ss school
2. I've never been to NYCOM....or the Northeast for that matter.

I agree with the other posters... depends on where you want to end up. They're both good schools. I went to Western myself, but I have a lot of friends that went to NYCOM as well. I'm from southern CA, so Western was perfect for me. I think NYCOM has a bigger class size, something like 200-300. My class was about 180, but I think it's expanding with their Northwest track.

Ultimately, figure out if you're a West Coast or East Coast person, you'll end up doing most of your rotations in the vicinity of your med school. So you better get used to living in that area wherever you choose.
