Hi,

I'm a D'15 student going to Western University.I need some suggestions on where to live that's approximately within 15-20 minute commute to school (Ex. safe areas, cities). I have been researching areas near the school and hear that Pomona is ghetto and would not be a good choice. Also, Claremont and La Verne are a little out of my budget. Does anyone know of a good area that would be safe and modestly priced to BUY at a close distance from the school.

Possibly thinking about buying a place if i can find a place near school that can accomidate a safe residence for a reasonible price. Also, if i do that i will be looking for a roomate or two depending on the size of the house. Feel free to chime in if you are a student or are familair with the area or if you will be looking for a room for the upcoming school year.

I live in Claremont and really enjoy it. I know you said it was a little out of your budget but keep your eyes peeled, you might find an awesome deal. You could always check out Upland and Rancho Cucamonga. They would be cheaper than Claremont but are still nice places to live and within a 15-20 minute drive. Chino Hills is also a nice area but might be a little pricey. Hope that helps and welcome to WesternU!

what nice apartment complexes would you suggest checking out in Claremont? (im 21/plan on living alone first year)

Well my wife and I got hooked up renting a house in Claremont from a family friend so it worked out really nice. As for apartments in Claremont, a lot of them are reserved for the students at the Claremont Colleges (Harvey Mudd, Pitzer etc.). Check out the village in Claremont. There are some other places where WesternU dental students live in Claremont but I can't remember the names of the complexes.

In Upland (right near Claremont), a lot of students live in College Park, Rancho Monte Vista, and Broadstone Foothills. All of those are really nice. The prices listed online may scare you, but they almost always have specials going on to make it way cheaper.

I have a modern loft in Pomona available mid June if you're interested. Right across the street from Western. My two previous renters also went to Western. Great building, retail including Starbucks, etc on the bottom floor, modern lofts on 3rd floor.
