PTTRAC
I am not sure if you will see this response, since your post was from last year, but it is worth a try. I have an interview with Western U tomorrow and am just not sure what to expect with respect to the interview questions they may ask. Is there any way you would mind sharing the questions that they asked you? They may not be the same as those they ask me, but your info will definitely help me prepare and feel a bit more confident about the interview.
Hope to hear from you!!
Hey,
I actually interviewed with Western last year. Got waitlisted, reapplied and have another interview with them as well next week. As for the interview questions they weren't at all what I expected. You start out in a group of 4 or 5 and go into a room where you are shown a black and white picture with no captions or words and asked to write a brief essay describing what the image means to you and how it relates to PT. Then we were taken individually into a room where 2 professors interviewed me.
The questions weren't typical of what I had prepared for and the interview was brief, only 15-20 mins. They asked me questions that didn't really give me a chance to express or explain myself.
They asked the general question, "Why Western U?" What separates us from the others in my decision to apply?....
From what I recall the question that really threw me off was "if you and your best friend of many years were both in the DPT program and taking an exam and you noticed them cheating, knowing the consequences for him/her if they were caught, how would you handle it? Would you turn them in or let it slide? How would you go about approaching your friend?" This question on morality didn't really sit well with me and it was tough to answer.
Another question they asked was about experience in the field (observation hours). They wanted to know the steps I was taking to gain more experience before entering the program. So, if you don't have many experience hours I'd suggest craming in as many as you can before the end of summer.
Can't remember the other question they asked, but it wasn't the "TYPICAL" what are your strengths and weaknesses, etc. questions. They were completely random questions.
They only asked 4 questions and then wanted to know the questions I had for them.
So, be prepared for this with some questions to ask them or else the interview will only be about 10 mins long...
Hope this helps
