Not sure if anyone has started a thread on updates from Western, but I just received an e-mail that my application has been completed and sent to the admissions committee for review! :scared: In the e-mail, it also stated that interviews are held in late January. Has anyone else heard anything from them?
 
yeah, i received that email on October 29th but that's it so far.
 
It'd be nice if they were more up on their game. I have mixed feelings about my application there. :eyebrow:
 
I got that back in October too. I also got two more. One was something about "Life in Pomona" and the other one was something about "financing you education" (which I was confused by...jumping the gun a little bit I think :laugh:). I'm actually really excited about this school :xf:
 
I'm pretty much ripping my hair out every time i get an email from a school that's not either an interview invite or a rejection....i mean yes, I'm interested in "Life in Pomona" but not before (if) you invite me to interview!!
 
So I remember last year, towards the beginning of December, we got a letter from Western with a login and password that we used to track our application. Are they not doing that this year?
 
Yup, got that e-mail a while ago along with the Ponoma and financing e-mails after it. I mean, thanks for the information but frankly I'm not even going to worry about life in Ponoma nor financing Western until I at least have an interview.
 
Woah, wait. Western has a tracking page? The last email I have from them is 11/19: A typical student week, then 10/27: App received. When was the login email sent?
 
This is the only one that I've received other than the Life in Pomona and the Financing Your Education ones:

. I would like to take this opportunity to give you a feel for what the application process will look like & to let you know what you may still need to do in order to complete your file:.
.Missing Application Pieces.
.We will contact you via e-mail if we find that information to complete your application is missing. Please note that any missing information must be submitted within two weeks of notification to avoid your application being rejected. Keep in mind that only completed applications will be considered by the admissions committee, and it is your responsibility to make sure that all application pieces are received by our office..
What you may still need to do
.As soon as they are available, you should submit your fall 2009 work-in-progress transcripts (if applicable). In most cases, an initial review decision will be made on your application before your fall grades are received. However, you should submit these as soon as they are available in case the Committee requests them. The deadline for fall transcripts is January 30, 2010. .
. Admitted students must show successful completion of all prerequisite coursework with a grade of C or higher prior to registration. Failure to do so will result in an inability to register for classes..
Interviews
.Interviews will be held in late January. Should you be invited, you will be contacted by e-mail approximately 1-2 weeks in advance. If you are not invited for an interview you will receive written confirmation of your status in late January..
Decision Letters
.Decision letters for those not invited for interview will be mailed in late January. All other decision letters will be mailed mid-March. If you are placed on the alternate list, you could be offered an acceptance up through the first week of class in early August..
. .Questions & Status Change..
.You will be notified immediately of any decision or change in your status so there is no need to contact our office in that regard..

We didn't get that tracking page last year until after interview offers were out. So no one panic just yet! lol

Naw, haven't received any such e-mail. Didn't apply to Western last year either so I can't comment on last year's process.
 
ah. I see that now...I probably got confused since my letter went to my home address and I was thinking I didn't know about that until after the interview. Being a third timer has rotted my sanity and confused my timelines :scared:
 
Has anyone gotten an interview invite yet? I called Western on Monday and they said the emails would be going out this week.

are you trying to give me a heart attack on my day off?!?! I'm guessing since they said this week it has to be pretty soon. I have the entire day off so I will be freaking out and checking my email over and over. Although it would be an amazing bday present if it happens before the weekend. Good luck all!
 
so are we definitely supposed to know this week? I'm getting very antsy! Especially since they said they are holding interviews from the end of January to the beginning of February!

It's worse when I see this thread AND the interview invite thread bumped at the same time.

I hope so too:xf:!!! And being on the east coast doesn't help, lol. Always counting back 3 hours and realizing they probably just got to work!

I always forget about the time change! Thanks for reminding me not to be a psycho before noon and to stay up later hoping haha

so whats going on with western invites?!? thought someone spoke to a western official who said emails/phone invites were being sent out this week!? 😕 not cool western, not cool... lol

I guess we were thinking the same thing at the same time!
 
Checked my e-mail way too many times today --- probably not healthy for the stress level. Eek. 🙂

Here's hoping for good news for everybody soon!! Maybe next week?....
 
Never have weekends been so unwelcome as they are in the vet school application process. I want Monday!!
 
I hate all this guessing when a school will send out invites! I wish they would just let us know!

I think they have grouped the interview people by state. They will start calling people who live in a state at the end of the alphabet first. And then each of the people to be interviewed in each state will be called in alphabetical order. So if your last name starts with an A and you live in West Virginia you will get your interview invite first. If your last name starts with a Z and you live in Alabama you will get your interview invite last. I am at the end of this list AZ last name starts with T. Of course, this is just my guess. More than likely they throw all of the applications into a big lottery wheel spinning thing and the first one they pull out gets called/emailed first.

Hey, I am a new member. I applied last year to a few schools but got rejected. I am 38 years old and changing my career. I did apply to 7 this year and so far Glasgow has invited me for interview. (I think I could be a mother to some of the students. 🙂) However, I also applied to Western. I was feeling discouraged when I did not hear today so I called their office around 2pmish and they told me they would start sending out e-mails NEXT WEEK. So you can breath a sigh of relief for the moment!!

Not as bad as yours, but my eyes saw Western first and I flipped out. 👎
 
I want to know as well too! 🙂 This a very painful process at the moment.
 
+pity+ Okay, I just wanted to make sure no one got an e-mail last night. My school decided that last night (1hr before Western's office closed) was a great time to update our e-mail software... and our e-mail will be offline until midday today.+pissed+ So if anyone else got an e-mail, I would love to know... I hope they didn't, because it would have been bounced back! :scared:
 
Hey guys, Western 1st year student here. I remember this thread well! Just writing to let you know you'll most likely have to be patient here. I know as of this past weds they were deciding on a time to meet and review more apps. Last year I don't think I got my invite until like Jan 26th and I interviewed I think like Feb 9th. There were people who got invites before me though. I was also sent into a panic about not being able to sign onto banweb, I never was able to sign in, some people were , plus when I got my interview so late I was thinking - well somone said no so I'm just filling their spot and my chances are low. Nope, I got right in. So anyway, I empathize with you guys so wanted to let you know just expect by the end of the month to try and not send yourselves overboard 🙂 any questions I'm around!
 
Did anyone else have their heart stop when they received the email on Friday? I read it on my cell phone (little screen) and when I got to the "Congratulations..." I about lost it, only to read on and find out it was just to tell me my app was being forwarded. Think I got this same email after I applied.

Yup, nooooo stress!!!!
 
BrumleyVet, no I didn't get that email but good for you keeping it together, I would have lost it for sure.

Bumping up. really hope that I hear some kinda GOOD NEWS today. I have my iphone ready to check mail ALL DAY!
 
I just called western admissions. They said that applicants will get interview notifications in the order of when the applications were received. I asked him "so, i will be notified sometime within the next few weeks for sure, right?" He said it depends on when you submitted your supplemental app
