I just called western admissions. They said that applicants will get interview notifications in the order of when the applications were received. I asked him "so, i will be notified sometime within the next few weeks for sure, right?" He said it depends on when you submitted your supplemental app

I feel like they give different answers to everybody. When I called last week, they told me that they would send them out 2 weeks before the interview. And if it depends on the date you submitted your supplemental, well, I submitted mine like 1 or 2 days before the deadline....here's to more waiting...

I just contacted admissions as well and Lacey, one of the admissions coordinator, said they were going out w/in the next week. She said they were a little behind in processing the supplementals as they got a a lot of applications. Ugh...not sure what she meant by "a lot" but I was too chicken to ask that.

I think that is just their excuse for being behind. They couldn't really have gotten THAT many more applicants this year. Plus, they should expect an increase in applicants every year...👎

The "file complete" email just arrived from Western, and I was starting to get excited when I realized what it actually was. They already sent me one of those... I guess they must have thought I wasn't confused enough yet.

I was also a little surprised to hear that the interviews will all be held in January; seems like they're cutting things close, given that interview invites haven't gone out yet and there are only 2 1/2 weeks left in the month.

I have given up any hope of fathoming how this process works

Do you know this through contact with the admissions office, or from your past experience? The email they just sent me did say they would be held in January... I hope you're right though, that would make things easier.

Then you must be more correct about the months than the email was. Perhaps they've been sending those out for a while, and never got around to changing what they said the month when it turned out that interviews would be happening later.

Anyway, thanks for the information. It's cool that they involve alumni in the process 🙂

Yep. Like I said. My interview was like Feb 9th and I got the invite letter around Jan 26th so it really is a few weeks before. Plus, talking to faculty I know by the end of last week all things interview were not done. And Chris0333 is a "she" - its a nickname. Sorry Chris, hope you don't mind I corrected for you there 🙂

I hope we do get the whole 2 weeks notice this year because last year my interview was about 7 days after I got my email. My mom is already on my case about plane tickets if I will be going again.

Although I highly doubt they would take me up on that. I still make crap pay as a resident so cannot afford to pay for myself to go😎, or else I would love to do it.

I'm seriously considering pulling my application from Western. I honestly can't afford to fly out to California in a week/two weeks notice. I just got back from Missouri, and that cost me about $400 between gas, hotel and food. And then, I have to head back there at the end of January for Kansas..Minnesota in February..and Boston in February. I'm seriously stressed about spending all of this money, and I don't honestly see how I'd fit Western in the mix. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

I know! I'm from Texas, and a ticket to California on such short notice is really expensive.Thank you for the kind words though, I needed them! 😳

Well, consider it this way: The tuition here is 40,000 a year. Whats another 1,000 on the credit card now? Though, considering most of us have class/jobs/etc, that short notice is a bit difficult, so I definitely feel your pain...

For some people, it's food, rent, etc. for the next couple months. Loans and such may help cover the expenses for vet school once you get in -and, as you pointed out, they makes travel fees look negligible- but some of us are running on a tight budget and 1,000 is a huge difference.

Credit card debt is what's referred to as 'bad debt'. Miss one payment? Welcome to 30% interest rate forever.

I called, and they said they're still reviewing applications and "everything has been pushed back a few weeks". Apparently meaning that they are still running behind schedule and that no invitations have been sent out at this point. *sigh*

So ridiculous. Was sitting with my friend when she called this morning and they readily said...TODAY. I guess as the day went on they found they were less prepared to start sending out invites. Tomorrow is another day!
