has anyone received an interview invitation after the 1/20/10 emails were sent out?
 
Just got an email from western. No interview invite yet but I hoping for the best :xf: They still must be reviewing applications here's what the email said:

I am pleased to inform you that your application is complete pending work in progress and will be sent to the admissions committee for review!

Interviews will be held early February and your family is invited to join you for the presentation portion of the day (details will follow). Should you be invited, you can expect to be on campus for a full day.

Please be sure to have your fall transcripts sent to us as soon as they are available so that the grades for those courses are in your file should the Committee request them! Should you be accepted, final transcripts for coursework in progress (beyond fall term) will be required before you may register for classes at Western University of Health Sciences-College of Veterinary Medicine.



So for those of us who haven't heard dont give up! hopefully we will all get invite soon!!!
 
It's crazy that they're still reviewing applications! Other schools have reviewed, interviewed, and offered at this point!

And I'm not sure it's really 'fair' to offer interviews when you haven't even looked at the whole pool of applicants yet.
 
Got an email, mine is still under review. I know that they split people up by last name and have a consoler for each group. Maybe some are more behind than others?

I'm happy to just get an update...😀

I hear ya HopefulAg, I don't think it's fair that they're sending out invites when they haven't reviewed all apps.
Don't they realize that many people with withdraw their apps/interviews because they were already accepted to their IS/or first choice school? Wouldn't it benefit them to get their interviews earlier than other schools (esp. since they're such a newer school)?

To the people that got invites, what letter does your last name begin with?
ETA: I think the last names are divided by A-E, F-L, M-Q, R-Z.

They got back to me last week rejecting two classes asking what two classes I will be taking to fulfill the requirements. It is crazy, but yes... they are still reviewing apps.

My last name begins with a S and I live in FL. Submitted my supp a day before it was due and heard my app was complete in Nov.

Last name begins with an S, live in Texas, submitted VMCAS and Supplemental about a week before Oct. 1st. Heard back that my application was complete in November.
 
Instead of by last name, it might have to do with when we received our "application complete" email
 
I got my VMCAS/Supp application received email on Oct 21. Then I got a application complete email on Dec 12.
 
If the "last name" theory holds true, so far people with last names in the groups F-L and R-Z have received interview notifications. Anyone with last names in the A-E and M-Q received any notifications?

Oh BTW, my last name begins with M 🙂 and no notification yet.
 
I received an email on 1/20- my last name starts w/ M. I also sent my app in several days before it was due (Yay procrastination!) Of course, I was told Western would CALL, so I didn't check my email til TODAY. Stupid. 😡hopefully nobody asked for Friday....
 
So how is everyone preparing for the interview?

How about any Western students out there? How is the interview?

ok, since both our last names start with M, I hope the "last name theory" doesn't hold true :scared:...there's really no point in trying to figure out their system, I guess it just helps to pass the time...I hate the wait😡
ugh, Monday seems so far away, again!!!:laugh:
 
The interview is "behavioral" don't worry about memorizing prop 2 or horse slaughter laws. Think about times in your life when...BE SPECIFIC. A time when you dsiagreed with someone, a time when you accomplished something, how, why, etc. I interviwed at 5 schools and this was the most difficult for me - but I survived, I THINK its not just about what your stories say but how you say them, be yourself, be friendly. Any other questions PM me
 
Alright I am bumping this thread up with the hopes they send out more invites this week. COME ON WESTERN!!!!!!
 
Ditto for me Radio 2020. Also my last name begins w/in a 'R' so I hope the theory a few threads up is not a valid one. 🙂

Still waiting on a confirmation email.... the first email said I have 3 business days, then should contact the office. (*is now a nervous wreck, Yay!*) Good luck everyone!
 
anyone going? im flying into LAX and trying to figure out the cheapest way to get to pomona...

Try to go into ontario instead. or rent a car and see what LA traffic is really like...give yourself LOTS of time.

I'm just flying into LA... my hotel's in Pomona with a FREE shuttle to Western... just trying to finagle a way to the hotel. Anyone ever heard of Super Shuttle?

Not sure if this will work for you (cheapest and only airline giving me a straight flight in from Northern California), but check Southwest. Their flight prices change daily, so if it seems too expensive, then try again the next day.

Which hotel is giving a free shuttle???? I'm not 25 yet so I can't rent a car without paying crazy more money. I see Best Western (Chino) offers airport shuttle (who knows if it's free or how much it costs). Then Claremont says they go to the "Pomona Colleges and Universities" for free. Does it that include Western U? Will they pick me up for free by chance?? BTW, I have never heard of a super shuttle. I'm attempting to avoid as many taxi rides as possible.

I got a non-stop from Boston that was really cheap.

I'm staying at the Shilo Inn.... I called and they have a WesternU discount for rooms and they have a free shuttle to and from the school. I found it here...http://www.westernu.edu/bin/pomona/local-hotels.pdf however some of the prices are changed. Super shuttle is a shared van-ride system thats about $56 bucks from LAX to the Shilo hotel... probably a lot cheaper than a cab. I can't rent a car either so it's the only thing I got.

I'll be there Sunday the 7th for an interview bright and early on the 8th! I think I got a king sized bed. I'm going to count how many times I can roll across it!

every time i'm in Cali i use super shuttle!! i love that blue and yellow van! i highly recommend it

Thank you thank you thank you! The link that Western had sent for local hotels was broken. I searched the site and couldn't find the pdf file that you linked on here. Weird. I'll be at Shilo Inn too! 🙂 I'll be there Feb 4-5th! Their free breakfast buffet was good when I was down there for Cal Poly Pomona open house (like 5 years ago eek!)
 
i just got my interview invite an hour ago. It looks like they're finally getting to the later applicants.

my last name begins with L, and I sent in my supplemental a day before it was due or somewhere around there.

for the guys who just got interviews today. when did you receive your application is complete and is being sent to the admissions committee? and what days do you have to choose from for the interview(i.e. the 1st or 2nd week)? i cant believe they haven't sent them all out already. Im so frustrated :scared:

I got my complete application email on Jan. 7.

In my email today, they said that they still haven't filled up the first week yet and they have to fill that week up before they ask applicants what day of the second week they want. So, they must have a lot more interviews to send out

This statement sounds somewhat encouraging. If they still have the 2nd week to fill up, there should be lots more invites going out!!! I was looking at the Western thread from last year (c/o 2013) and it looks like invites were given from 1/9/09-1/20ish.

So far both IS and OOS applicants have been invited. Applicants who received "application complete" emails from October-January have been invited. And applicants with last names across the board have been invited. Yep, I officially give up on trying to figure them out :laugh:.
