Good luck Radio2020!!!! I will do great! 🙂

I mean YOU will do great! I have had some wine...sorry 😉

lawlers~! also i forgot to give credit to jpeterman who helped me w/ the interview and confirmed most of the questions were the same.

holla!

Kinda off topic, but not really: ImaJerseyGirl, I replied to your PM earlier 🙂

I don't know why I'm so surprised someone else from my school applied to the same schools I did hahaha. Most of my friends are graduated or in a completely different field, so I often feel like I'm alone in this seemingly never-ending struggle XD.

Looks like I was rejected. My roomie said I got a letter from western so I am assuming thats what it is. At least now I can drop my undergrad sociology class which made me have 17 credits which 14 of them are graduate so this will make my course load a lot better. I wish western would have just tell me on the phone i was rejected instead of making me wait. Now im definitely going to either Edinburgh or UF (if I get an interview). I'm sort of relieved.

I bet when I get home today there will be a letter. I'm thinking "under review" is code for "it's in the mail". 🙁

Circle gets the square! Rejection in the mail today, postmarked 2/5. What really sucks is that they don't do their application reviews until June/July. What about the 6 months between now and then?

Marsala I am reallllly sorry to hear about the rejection. 🙁 I know you (and I for you) were really hoping for good news. Don't give up, from one non-trad to another non-trad. You WILL get there!!!

Identity revealed, lol. Atleast you can relax knowing you can drop sociology and knowing you have a Edinburgh acceptance under your belt. Meanwhile, I had my interview this morning and could hardly enjoy it because I'm stressed about my seminar!!! 👎

But I really liked the school and the area isn't bad, I guess it depends on what you are used to. The view of snowcapped mountains didn't hurt, either. 😀

YOUR IDENTITY REVEALED!!! HA! Glad your interview went well. See you in animal sciences! (hint: we met at Panera and I pick fruit):laugh:

Radio2020, Mitshu and FinleyMonkey...I know ALL your identities! lol

But now we are just getting this thread off track 😛

Anyways, the snowcapped mountains were pretty amazing...especially for Floridians like us! Now we have to wait till March 15 to know!!

Lol ahhh Identity revealed. Soo funny...I am glad you got thru today.I bet you will get in :luck: We have to have a chat about the assign due tonight. I have to start working on my seminar too

hahahaha fruit picker :roflcopter: ... can't believe we hijacked the thread...

Good luck to everyone that hasn't interviewed yet!!

:highfive:holla! Glad it went well!

So it looks like they're going to wait until the last hour to decide on my app.:meanie:

If rejection letters were sent out Friday and people all the way in Florida have received them (sorry about that BTW🙁), then where is my letter (I live only 2 hours away)?
...nothing in the snail mailbox for me today...does this mean they're really still "reviewing my app" or my rejection letter didn't make it to the post office on time on Friday. 🙄
...can any SNDers with Western connections let me know if they're still reviewing or if they've already filled up the interviews and sent the rejection letters, that would be awesome. 😀
I just hate feeling hopeful and rejected at the same time 😕

I just withdrew my app to Western so I hope someone great will get my interview spot on Thursday. Good luck!! and don't lose hope!!

i had my interview this week, and the questions were pretty much the same as interview feedback. the advice i got from a friend who goes there was to have a few stories ready and then whatever the question is, adapt the story to it, and it worked out fine for me. overall, i thought it went pretty well. i was lucky too because you are broken up into 4 groups, and i was the first group to interview, so i was able to enjoy the rest of the day in peace. sandwiches, sun chips, and drinks were served for lunch, as well as an array of snacks: trail mix, milano cookies, goldfishies, and fruit snacks.]

THERE WERE NO MILANO COOKIES ON MONDAY. WTF WESTERN!

I had mixed feelings going to my interview at Western. Overall I think I liked the PBL program and think I'd be a good match for it. All the students seemed relaxed and nice and did complain a bit about the area of Pomona where the campus is. However I think you have to remember you can live somewhere fun and nice and socialize there. You're going to a school to study and learn. Maybe the fewer distractions on campus the better. Although I think they got a Starbucks and a place on campus with more food choices.

PM if you have any questions!

for those who are still waiting- stay strong! I just received an interview invite tonight (that I'll be turning down due to other acceptances)!!

funny they send the e-mail Feb.9 offering Feb 8-13th dates (with Feb.22 tacked on)...I live in the mid-atlantic, I can't even make it out my driveway!

happy interviewing👍

I also just received an interview invite! Although I can't make it on the 22nd considering I'll be going to my Illinois interview on that day so hopefully they can reschedule...Good luck to those still waiting!

THERE WERE NO MILANO COOKIES ON MONDAY. WTF WESTERN!

that's prob. because i ate one packet and stuffed about 10 in my pocket. so they probably ran out of them now. forgot about them until today when i discovered that some ants had gone through them all. kidding!

roffle kootz! sounds like those cookies were the deal breaker on whether or not western was right for you. :luck:  👍

a short blurb on the "bad" area: if you want good mexican food, you don't go to beverly hills. check out king taco on mountain in ontario or si como no for some fish tacos off grove ave although they both got nothin on el taureezy. taco crawl anyone? :hardy::roflcopter::roflcopter::banana:

Congrats Castaway12 and LegallyPink on getting an invite.
It's good to know they really are still reviewing apps.
Called again today...same 'ol song..."still under review" only a little bit more hopeful now that I know they're still interviewing and added on another date. :xf:

marcwood at least you have not gotten a rejection letter. There is still hope, eh?! Hang on and be hopeful. If I had been so fortunate enough to have gotten an interview I would likely not have made it far...as I am in the mid atlantic..... I walk out of my apartment "okay ready to shovel out my car....hmm where did I park my car as I can't even see it!!!!" 😉

I just got back from my interview and I have to say, I really liked it. I went in with a negative impression, and getting off the shuttle and seeing the campus is a bit of a shock (exactly what someone else said: it looks like a strip mall) but it really did impress me. It's just a shame that it's sooooo cost prohibitive ($260k at today's tuition rate, and that raises about 3-5% a year they said, so it'd be even more in the long run).

But I really dig what they're all about. I wish they weren't associated with Banfield but everything else was good. The students seemed very into it, the faculty was very nice, and one can't balk too badly at 91% board passage rate from their last class. So they must be doing something right.

I won't be going there even if they accept me, but I'm glad I did go to the interview. Was an eye opener.

Hey HopefulAg,

I was there too today (along with a fellow New Jersian). I am excited about the curriculum and do feel much better about it having seen the school/met students etc. I agree, the $$$ is a very scary thought, but the program is very interesting and may very well be worth it.

And the interview was pretty smooth, I did feel queasy afterwards though. 😛

I walked away today wanting to go to Western U more than ever before, but I feel like my interview wasn't as sterling as I wish it had been. I think at one point I actually forgot the question they asked me. I kept rambling in hopes I was hitting on the answer. It doesn't help that everyone else in my interview group thought they did amazing hahahaha.

The curriculum seems daunting, but I want it. What really gets me is the exposure they have to animals so early on...

And now we play the waiting game 🙂.

This would be more bearable if I had milano cookies 🙁. All I have going for me now is a belly fully of jalapeno combos and a cream cheese croissant.

Yah I was looking for the Milano cookies too. Had to settle for fruit snacks.

I was there too today (along with a fellow New Jersian).
Hmm, what group were you in? I was the quiet guy who picked a horrible seat to sit in in the lecture hall lol. Felt like I was in my own little world.

I was in group 1 today btw 🙂. I think we were all in our little world at some point or other. I was in a daze the whole time haha

Also, I was too much of a nervous wreck to realize they had fruit snacks there. Upsetting that I didn't get the full experience D8

...the stars aligned and I received my interview invite today approximately 10am.😀

a million thanks for your good vibes for sure...more good vibes for both our interviews. 😉

Just checking in... Let me know if you have any additional questions. However, be patient as it is a three day weekend which means a two day case next week. Then of course midterms are right around the cornner.... but I will do my best to check SDN to answer questions!

For those of you who thought your interviews went poorly.... No worries! They are looking at your character and not about what you say. If you seemed interested, oriented towards team work and not all about you, and didn't seem shy and barely answered questions... I am sure you did great! I thought I did horrible... and I am now a second year! Good luck for those still interviewing!

So, I had my western interview yesterday. I loved the school and was really impressed. But here is the tale of my trip....long post as I am stranded as I type this.

Arrival: FLEW INTO LAX, rental car company refused to take my debit card, I guess its their policy. I was unable to get a rental car and had to take a taxi to Pomona area where my hotel was. Cost me more than my application fee to the school. BULL**** NUMERO UNO😡

DAY TWO: I was able to get a car rental after promising a 300 deposit. But I had no ride to the car rental place so I hitched a ride from the maintenance man of my hotel, since I was broke after the taxi ride and expensive deposit. He dropped me off at the wrong place. BULL**** NUMERO DOS😡 but nice guy to give me a ride👍

Called rental place and they sent the mechanic to get me👍 Once I arrived the lady felt bad for my troubles and waived all fees and gave me the rental car for minimal fees without the underage charges. I hugged her. 😀

Then I went whale watching and to Aquarium Pacific which was FANTASTIC! 👍

DAY THREE: THen I saw Western and went for my interview. IT WAS AWESOME! I loved the program. And that town is not ghetto! Has anyone been to Atlanta or Philadelphia? Good lord, I was prepared to defend myself and I saw there was a starbucks. To me, anywhere there is a starbucks can hardly qualify as ghetto. It is like void. Back to the school, students and teachers were awesome and the facilities were nice as well. Interview went ooook. I am so excited to hear back.

I decided to fly out that night, but mother nature caused Delta to GROUND ALL FLIGHTS. Apparently Atlanta is their central HUB? They told me they could get me back to florida four days later!!!! And no they were not giving me a hotel as it was an act of god! BULL**** NUMERO TRES, CUATRO, CINCO AND SEIS!!!:beat: I had to find a hotel as I was once again stranded at LAX. The hotel shuttle picked me up and I was explaining my travel difficulties to the driver/front desk guy and he took me to subway to get food, since I hadn't eaten since my western lunch.

DAY UNEXPECTED FOUR: So, I found a flight to Florida that was for today that is a red eye that will get me 2 hours from my original destination. Then I got a call my UF letter arrived as a rejection (my IS):diebanana: I had to check out of my hotel, broke, and now am sitting here waiting for time to pass in the lobby until my flight leaves at 10:50 tonight. AND I GOT A MIDDLE SEAT!!! If Western accepts me...this will all be worth it. If they don't, I will :boom: over this crazy ridiculous travel experience. BUT, all the people here have been so nice in helping me out. Total strangers. I love the people of California! WISH ME LUCK!

Radio - sounds like quite the adventure. I can't believe Delta wouldn't help you out with a hotel. Good vibes your way that this will all be worth it.

Was today the last day of interviews? I can't wait to hear back from them, I want to go there so badly.

Damn, that sounds awful. Could you not have gone to a different rental car company? Usually they're all lined up like ducks in a row.

I believe they added a date, February 22. I can't wait to hear back from them either since I totally fell in love with the school!!

WOW Radio!! What a trip, you will have a great story to tell friends now. I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you to get into Western. Good Luck acceptance vibes and wishes are being sent your way now!! :luck:

Thanks! The westernu forums look pretty neat. Could you link the facebook page so when we do find out about western's decisions we could join? thanks!

Wow Radio, quite the adventure. I'm glad the Southern Californians were so good to you. I hope my interview trip (~2hour drive from San Diego) will not be so eventful.

TrocarKarin, I'll be up there on the 22nd (the date they added). On the plus side, I won't have to wait as long until they mail out their decisions in March 🙂.

There was an unofficial contest, right? And THANK YOU for noticing what I did... Pomona is a little worn down, but miles better than some other cities. I went to school in Downtown Atlanta, 3 blocks from a mental hospital. Pomona is largely lower income working class. NOT the same. That said, it could be better, but at least there are some nice areas around Pomona. 😀 Good luck everyone, and come on March 10-15th. :xf:

Yah Ponoma wasn't bad at all. Kept looking at it and wondering "So when do we get to the ghetto?" Must be some very privileged people on these boards 😀 because it looked like a lot of the smaller towns around here.

I MADE IT HOME! Thanks for the warm wishes. I just woke up since I hadn't slept since Friday, due to the red eye and time change etc. I am so excited to hear back from Western. Everytime I replay my interview in my head I take 1000 second guesses as to "why did I say that? was it the right thing to say? was that even proper English?" Good luck to everyone! First thing I am doing if I get back to western is taking out all those people who helped me out to lunch.

Yay!!

:luck::luck::luck::luck::luck::luck::luck: to everyone! This wait till March is going to seem like forever!

I'm glad there are a few of you that enjoyed your trip to western (Radio, I am so sorry for your torturous travels!). I just wanted to pass on that I received my acceptance via email on 3/12 last year, and a letter via snail mail about a week later. It is my understanding that the Dean makes the final decision as to who is offered a position so that is what tacks on some more time with the whole process. I have heard from some of the faculty who are doing interviews that they are very impressed with the potential candidates this year, so that is great news! Good luck everyone!

wow radio that was some story. wish some of us coulda helped you out. is western your first choice?
